    Port Waikato ride pics

Pics from a day out on the dirt, Awesome scenic ride, I could have taken so many more pics but I had some riding to do too, fun times and as per normal I just cruised around the track but it was all good fun, nothing to challenge this time being so dry, a couple of down hills in the expert loops would have been fun in the wet

    Awesome day

Cheers for the memories, used to live and work there when I was a teen. Did a lot of fencing work on that place.

Is that a park? Open all the time? Or trail ride?

It's a trail ride and an awesome one at that. I've done it a few times and have the dubious honour of being on You Tube somewhere on someone else's vid, failing to make it up the fisrt climb from the car park.

Mark it on your calender for next year, it's one of those special rides where the scenery is as enjoyable as the riding (as leathels pics confirm).

I'm hanging out for the Waikeratu ride, haven't been on a ride since Xmas! Waikaretu pips Port Waikato because of that monster sand dune we get to play on, with the strange Martian-like landscape at the top you can play around on. Both are great though.

    Great Pix!

    Great Pix!
My group were a little disappointed with PW this year. We went out expecting some serious riding with my daughter hoping to put her FR250 through some testing conditions. We did get some pace up through the Ti-Tree and 'over 16' loop but none of the 'bogs' and serious super expert hill climbs posed much challenge due to the dry. Hooning around on the beach ended up being the funnest part of the day!

Anyone find any mushrooms, some great mushroom patches in there. I used to get great big buckets full and sell them down by the shop at sunset beach.

too dry for them too, and the shop at the beach is now closed, just the store at the ramp now.

Some rain would have made the down hill on the expert loop past the yards fun but it was far too easy in the dry... the tee tree loop was the only place any mud was at all and then dry either side so no challenge at all, towards the end some started to struggle on the hill climb after the beach.... but only the ones no holding it pinned, was also no real challenge

Biggest challenge was not riding of the side when looking at the views or avoiding the stag on the track early in the day :P

Look forward to the Waikaretu ride on the 13th as I haven't done that in many years
