My BMW wins. Had it on it's side for some work (non-electrical). Sat upright for a while, then tried to start it, and it would only crank, no start. Left for rest of the day, no start. Overnight, nothing. Carted it off to the dealer to figure out what was wrong on Monday morning, they finally get the time to look at it Thurs/Fri, and it starts fine

Nah, it's only to keep putting some nice fresh oil in... kinda like a constant oil change. I laugh now... but not when the oil light comes up, and I'm a long way from oil

Just a thought incase you still have problems. Just had to pull the starter button apart on my 08 Speed Triple because it left me stranded at the servo one morning refusing to start. I reckon it has been an intermitant problem for the last couple of years that I didnt recognise.

Just had to pull it apart and spray round some contact cleaner and it has been all good since.

For the record Qkkid was in my bed, not the other way round

The good news is I also have a spare battery because it is the same as the battery in my VFR. Street and Sport have a battery load tester so I wil get them to check it out but I think the question has been answered.
Which is good because I am skint at present.
I'd put money on it being battery. Battery doesn't have to be dead for mine not start. And I would say yours may be same, greedy and needy little farker that requires a lot of juice to fire - I readed somewhere once that if a battery can't supply around 13.5 volts at starting, then you're gonna have the roaw, roaw, pooooooooosh issue!
