Great on a trip, with no body roll, and great on gravel roads too. We built a house at Onetangi on Waiheke Island, and had to go up Seaview Rd, a very neglected road (also part of the TT course) and our Singer Vogue (Hillman Hunter) would be axle tramping all the way up in 2nd gear, no way could you get into 3rd. I tried several cars up there, even a Mercedes, then tried an 1800 - and it could go up in 3rd gear, smooth as...so I bought it, my second MkI Austin 1800. The hydrolastics really show their advantage in a long wheelbase, the Mini was too short for them.
