But think of the earlier mail delivery
Nice day out again today, blue sky, no wind.
Is it bad that my bike appears cleaner now than it did this morning? and No, no one fell in.

At the gathering point before the last ride I mentioned to a few of you about heated jacket liners and 'stick on' light reactive anti fog inserts.
Well the anti fog insert was hard to place correctly on the visor, can not be pulled of to reposition when stuffed up. I have tape on the top of mine now. Anti fog properties seem as good as the old pinlock so far. Hopefully it's still sealed up enough to avoid the dust intrusion which the pinlock suffered from. There seems to be some extra reflection from lights at night. Have not been out in the sun with it yet.
Link... Invision Anti-Fog, Auto-Tinting visor insert NZ $39.00 from fastbikegear.co.nz plus $6 freight.
Watch out, there are special ones for some helmets.
The heated jacket liner was taken for it's first test tonight, once I got past the wires and plugs hanging about the place I love it.
I know there are better ones out there, but this was value for money and I wish I had committed the cash years ago.
It really is like being wrapped up in an electric blanket while riding.
$291.74NZ at the door plus a $7.30 foreign exchange fee from the bank.
Included wiring for bike and dual controller which are usually needed to be bought as extras with other brands.

I'll likely do a better post for the proper gear review thread once I've had some more time with the stuff.

Well I like Carl have a new toy to play with so I took it out for its first ride last sunday through Lees valley, nice easy ride to make sure I have my ducks in a row.
It is a Beta RR 498, I have put a 14.4 litre tank on board as it only has an 8 litre as standard which is fine for trail rides but not adventure rides.
My motivation was weight or in the case of the Beta lack of weight (113 kg) which makes things easy to control when you are a short ass like me.
First impressions, very impressed, very light to operate, good ergos, low centre of gravity, no vibration, nice a quiet - love that, very friendly motor with bucket loads of low down torque, bucket loads of useable suspension. you can tell this bike has a trials parentage. But I hate the F#%king seat, it makes concrete look like a good option, to be fair it is an enduro bike and they are all the same and I do have a soft seat coming.
This is a huge change from the DR650 to ride, the Beta is a GSD bike "Get Shit Done", you can point it at something and as long as I am prepared to hold on it will perform and comfortably.
Any way it is all new and I will report back once I have had a good ride and finished setting it up, bark busters, heated grips etc
Thanks to the guys for a good ride on Sunday through the valley, weather was perfect.
Cheers Paul
