No the real problem is our political system and the lack of will to deal with issues by the politicians.
Police do a pretty stunning job most of the time catching crooks and idiots but the revolving door justice system and lack of jail space sees them released straight away.
Then there is the growing issue of youth crime where through the media they even advertise to them that they can offend with zero consequence, hence why we have 12 year old stabbing dairy owner.
We could build more prisons easy and lower age of criminal responsibility but no govt want the political embarrassment of jailing so many people.
23% of the funding comes from the Land Transport Fund.
Perhaps the argument to have is that the rest of the Police aren't funded sufficiently.
Interesting. We have a sinking lid policy. Nil increase in total funding over at least the last 3 years, maybe 5. So anything extra we do has to take dosh from something else we do.
so clearly the way forward is for us all to become anarcho-terrorist al quaeda sympathisers wanting to learn how to take off (but not alnd) a plane because:
a) pleece resources would be diverted to deal with anarcho terrorists leaving us free to do what we want on the roads and
b) the GCSB could stop intensively surveiling Mr Akzle and earn some of the undisclosed money they get from the NSA and Dick Cheney.
Its a win-win. I should do this shit for a living.

Or just not use them?
They are dangerous enough with all the pinch points and cars thinking that nothing faster than 30kmph is coming. Add in the debris that tends to build up an the fact that they are made for a vehicle that is about 6 inches narrower than your motorcycle.
The inherent safety for the cyclist is supposed to be that the general flow of traffic is going faster than them so can see them clearly as they approach. Not so if you are moving faster than the traffic.
Even on a push bike if I find I am going faster than the traffic by more than 20 kms I slow down, or if it is safer hit the right hand side of the lane instead.
Stupid phone / Tapatalk, apologies in advance.
just because the police do/enforce it, doesn't make it legal, and certainly not lawful.
