I'm guessing they're taking those XR's to around 9 grand.

Ha ditto. Got the Honda new a bit lower than the Buell. Figured I'd not afford any 'exotic' (ahem) issues if I Buelled.

...Steve Storz and his old man and bro were Norton racers on the dirt flat track, the parts he makes for sportsters as well as other shit for Ducatis is quite cool stuff, between him and his mate who makes the Cerianis have come up with some really nice bits...

My guess too, my R65 sounds good at 8,000rpm, but I used to take my T100C to 10,000rpm, it's a whole new level of screaming pain.

Most of the differences he's describing were carried over to the later XB12 engine. Don't think they splashed out on magnesium cases for the stock XB but most of the remaining differences are easy enough. Easy for an engine shop that is.

So there's your first excuse gone. Got any more?

Useless prick. You've still got marketable bodily organs, though eh?

That's the success of marketing in the modern day I suppose. My sporty does it for me. I've spent more on it than what it would have cost me to get any big block I desired ,just on the improvements I wanted. Nothing from the "Wall of Chrome" either

( In my tiny mind anyway).

If I was a sane person I would have bought a Buell when they first arrived .

Would have cost a lot less but it would still be just a hardley to the knockers.

If I want all the technology I just get the MV out.

Truth is I still enjoy polishing the sporty more than I do trying to wash all that technology.

Glad you said that, I was getting all confused because of the right exit pipes.

That turbo is fucken hideous, and would be way less efficient than it could be mounted so far away from the heads.

I can understand that, there are guys in the MT group who have and do spend mega bucks, on the fancy parts... Mine is a 'homebrew' Stage 2, that does it for me!!
