    Bike insurance assessment?

Anyone taken there bike to a dealer for insurance assessment? I have done this for the 1st time recently.

They wouldn't let me say anything about the accident, what I thought the damage was etc, they just took the bike and that was it. Took a bit of social engineering to actually get the list of damaged parts out of them too, when i picked the bike up they blankly stated its all with insurance and not to worry.

So i rang up the parts desk the next day and asked them to tell me what they were looking up to price. Seems like they are pricing up a few more parts than I would of said was damaged by the accident....

so i think they are trying to rip off the poor insurance company.

    what should i do?
Then I could get a Kb Tshirt, move to Timaru and become a full time crossdressing faggot

Why do you care about the insurance company's wellbeing?

because a: ripping people off is not good, and B: it makes insurance more expensive.

You obviously haven't made many insurance claims. The ass reaming and robbery is exclusively carried out by the insurance co and their assesors.
Then they will go over the quote with fine tooth comb...

No details about your bike but you'd be surprised how long the list of parts can be to properly restore something to how it was before, bent brackets broken screw mounts etc...

The bike shop don't want to talk so they don't get caught up in a he said, she said, the cow said drama...

The insurance co will be screwing the shop down on margins big time. Have no sympathy for insurance companies. Ever.

That is correct, the shop's business is with the insurance company, not the bike's owner.

Their brief is to price to get back to un damaged state. A scratch is damage. What we would put up with is not what they see as acceptable

It would take an experienced mechanic or assessor to know what damage (or probable/possible but not necessarily obvious damage) "May" have occurred to various parts.

Scratched or not, it happens. There are plenty of morally questionable people out there, although after the EQ BULLSHIT for the last 4 years I have little respect for insurance companies even on that level.

If you don't have detailed pictures of your bike, just forget about it and add it to your list of life experiences.

    If bike gets repaired shoddily,

please complain to all and sundry

if bike gets repaired to A1 condition,

Say big thank you to bike shop for being good at their job...

(Knowing their trade AND knowing how to get what YOU need from the insurers)

actually im pretty sure its to get it back to pre accident condition.

How they can assess what was pre accident and what was existing damage with out asking some basic questions - where was the accident (LHS or RHS) what speed it was etc etc boggles my mind, did the bike fall over etc etc.
Then I could get a Kb Tshirt, move to Timaru and become a full time crossdressing faggot
