Actually....nah. I wrote off my speed triple and anything that was damaged even a scratch was earmarked as needing repair or replacement......the shop got to $23k of parts....without labour(hence writing it off)

had a scratch on the swing arm....they wrote the swing arm off as they deemed it as structural damage.

    bike now races in nelson

Still can't decide whether Renegade Master oops I mean Pastor is just trolling but...

A few years back my bike was knocked over in the garage at work. I had a quick look in the limited light available and thought I'd escaped lightly. I rode it straight to the bike shop and he was immediately talking five thousand dollars plus or minus. Ducati parts add up really quick. I left them the bike and they did their costings.

The bike was mint before the bump and mint after the repairs and nobody was robbed. Which in my experience with insurance companies was a first. On the few occasions I have claimed for anything previously I have always ended up feeling that I'd been screwed over. On this occasion it was the woman driver's insurance company that were footing the bill, but it was my insurance company the bike shop were dealing with.

yeah well in this case, I don't have insurance, and the guy who hit me isn't going to claim insurance, cos he thinks hes not at fault. All fine and well, just means I now have to go to disputes tribunal. Dunno why he doesn't want to go through insurance tho... (ive tried like 3 times, cant do anything without him lodging claim which is a little bit BS)

I've also laid a complaint with the police, I think it will help establish fault in court? Its going to be very hard for this guy to claim im at fault for this one haha. At the very least he'll get a failing to giveway or unsafe lane change ticket.

Despite him being bit of a pillock i'm not going to try and rip him off, i'll take the list of parts and minus the things that I know he didnt damage. The front mudgard for example, is sitting in my bedroom.....

So you're trusting the people you think are ripping an insurance company off to take pictures of your bike that could incriminate them if they are replacing parts that don't need to be replaced...

You tell me. You started out by saying you didn't trust them.

It's pretty clear now that any extras they have added are idiot tax. Fingers crossed you're sterile.

its not a matter of trust, simply what they have and haven't done. In my view they have tried it on. I'm asking if this is normal practice, and the answer is yes, yes it is >_>.

When some muppet at Akld depo mistook my GSXR for a white line and backed an Izuzu truck into it, the damage totalled about $4k. All cosmetic, same as if fell of stand etc but harder!
Front headlights, front sub frame, front fairing, tail fiaring left side, rear light assembly. Rode it back to Hastings on start of holiday and got local shop to fix it.

why? I'm not stuffed at all. Just takes time to get the money.

Bike is still 100% rideable. Kinda glad its not going through insurance tbh, dont have to worry about insurance stealing my bike, then trying to sell it back to me.

I admire your optimism. Your realism, however, may be somewhat lacking?
