Nick Smith bashes Fish and Game

Nick Smith in trouble for threatening to remove Fish and Game's powers. What an arrogant goose.

Buy a Seat in Parliament for $3 million.

Why have the media missed this? There has been any amount of noise about donations to politicians (ironically from David Cunliffe who himself received secret donations).

But Kim Dot Com's act makes everything else pale into insignificance. For $3 million he gets a seat in Parliament via Hone Harawira plus maybe a few more seats too. If the stars align he will have enough influence to change the law to avoid extradition.

Buying a seat in Parliament is about as blatant and corrupt as you can get. But nobody has noticed?

That is how government has been formed in the UK for at least 3 decades. We've likely all noticed, but if you have money you must be successful, therefore eminently more qualified to make better decisions than those who don't have money. Odd that you're complaining about Mr Dotcom when he's merely following current political etiquette.

And now he is justifying the inclusion of the Maui's Dolphins' protection area in the recently awarded offshore mining licence on the grounds of (very questionably reasoned) economic return.

    Minister of Conservation, of what?

The industries that pay our welfare bill?

Number of Maui dolphins killed by oil industry activity in the last 40 years: Zip, zilch, zero, nada.

Every single recorded death due to human activity was due to set-netting. Which government extended the set-net ban to all areas where Maui dolphins have been confirmed sighted? The current one.

If so he is working outside of the responsibilities of his ministerial portfolio and he also therefore obviously has a conflict of interests.

I have always thought that! . (but NZ politicians are party interchangable anyway when it gets right down to the nitty gritty!)
