    Nick Smith = twat.

Fish & game... They certainly need reeling in with their fucked-up ideas and approaches to "conservation". Sadly, nick is right on this one. If only he'd do the same with DoC, since both need a reality check.

Aye. But when the individual in question is SUCH an arsehole nobody will thank you for providing facts that make him look good.

Poor old Cunners, it's a tough job when you're constantly trying to work out what people want you to be like so you can pretend to be it...John Key's been on the wagon since his holiday, the Ginga Economic Incompetent since the budget in May, DC thinks "oops, I'd better do that too" and vows to give up for the rest of the campaign.

I bet even Cunliffe doesn't know who the real David is by now

Why would anyone come up with a fake that was so bad? Oh, right, Labour Party. As you were.

    riiiiiiight. "reality check"

that usually means "its OK for your cows to shit in our rivers because squeezing cows is the basis of the national prosperity". Not only is it flat wrong, it is unnecessary, completely unsustainable, and ignores every other user of the myriad inland waterways affected. That and irrigation uptake (and wastage) are two pet peeves of mine.

Simple solutions such as hard surfacing, turning effluent into fertiliser, fencing waterways etc.

When I first started whitewater kayaking in the '80's you could (and we did) drink the water from ANY of the rivers we used to go to. If anyone had brought a water bottle we would have ridiculed them.

now you just cannot do that. Giardia, crypospiridium, cow shit, reduction in volume due to irrigation. And for what? So a public good can be subverted for the economic interests of a few (and of course, through debt payments) be channelled off shore. What is left? stinking dead ecosystems where once were rivers.

    Nup you're wrong.

Colin Craig, Mr Craig said his party would block all substantial land sales to foreign buyers - a policy already proposed by New Zealand First, Labour and Greens.

If only politicians HAD to keep election promises.

the devil's in the detail though, eh? If you look at the OIC Act (I had to, once or twice) it is entirely arguable that it already has the potential to block "substantial land sales to foreign buyers". Except they never have. Oh wait - didnt they prevent Zer Fuhrer Kim DC from buying that hideous Coatesville McMansion?

    Yeah, that's substantial.

But that twiggy singer chick still owns Motutapu, and a shit ton of dairy polluters (sorry "farms") are owned offshore... and people wonder why there is environmental degradation all around? Should be pretty obvious.....
