i'm sure I can find at least 20 instances of people who SHOULD have got hurt towing the racebike...Including me (twice) - Kirby's driving, other peoples reflexes saving us...The old road trip mentality is amazing to watch.
i'd vote for the 10 airbags nowadays...the BM, not so much...
Ironic that the moderns mostly have fairings which do at least lessen the case damage but the posties and classics in the main run without anything. Mark you, given the values of some of those, you do see riders throwing them selves under the bike as it goes down...
Yea,
But if you read the post properly, I stated that that instance stuck in my mind the most, Not that it was the last one ( That instance was nearly 2 decades ago and was just an example), Also I noticed your post stated you had canvassed a FEW competitors and then stated they BOTH said they had not experienced a crankcase failure...So just the 2 then, Thats a good reason not to have protection, Not sure re your comment on business opportunity, It was me that proposed the rulechange and I do not make engine protectors, Nor do I have any intention of doing so, Also if you read the rule, It states covers that may contact the ground, Therefore if you have wally knobs fitted correctly or the cases are behind the fairing, No problem
Haha, I wasn't being emotive, Just making a point, Why wait for the event to happen when you can do something to prevent it, Its not slipped mt attention that sidecar bob and gordy don't even race any of the machinery affected, So its my best guess theyve just got naff all to do today haha.
Besides, Why would I care. I instigated all these changes and now I'm not even a member, ENJOY hahahahaha!!!
Triumph hi sided at Manfeild on the front and leaked everything onto the track just a few years ago. Canned the meeting.
Team I was on had case protectors that meant we could continue to complete after a low side and we didn't stop the meeting.
If it ain't smokin', it's broken.
