Thumbs down Victory and Indian dealer feedback

Went to buy some Victory parts at the Victory and Indian dealer… I wish I didn’t!
First of all, everything is idiotically expensive! You can’t buy the glass for your headlight; you have to buy the whole thing … only 700 dollars. You can’t buy the one lock for the trunk… nor two or all, it’s coming in a kit with the ignition and… bugger them!
So I agree to their prices… reluctantly. I was kinda amused. Then they told me I have to wait up to two weeks for the parts to come. Ok, you don’t have parts in stock, no problem. But I have to pay upfront… now! WTF?! Otherwise they don’t bring me the parts…hahahha
So I made the mistake to give them the money for some bullshit promises… big mistake!
In two weeks I give them a call. They were to busy at that time to talk to me… and next days and next week and … left some messages but nobody contact me back.
So after tree and half weeks I went there to get the parts.
    What parts?!
“it’s not going like this, mate”… “mate” I’m not your bloody mate, I’m your customer and I’ve paid you for some services you don’t provide!
When I find out the parts are not there and they have no idea when they will come and honestly don’t give a flying duck, I asked for my money back.
‘It’s not going like this, mate!” hahahahah… so they didn't want to give me the money back. I left fast so I don’t smash his face in and really lose the money and get in trouble (very proud of myself with this!!!)
So I’ll see the fuckers in court to get my money back.
Now I’m happy with no parts or money. Thank you!

The parts will show up but next time you have the option of buying from the USA.
Most likely better service, delivery time and cost.

Very interesting experience and diametrically opposite to the one I've had with them. All parts I've purchased (Indian wise) arrived within a day or two of when they stated it would; no payment upfront and Dave and Peter are probably amongst the most down to earth, honest motorcycling blokes I've met. I've been invited along on the Burt Munroe ride, got to go to the Indian Scout release event and they generally treat me like a valued customer.

I feel they'll go the extra mile for me - I'd almost given up on the saddlebag issue and Dave negotiated with Indian / Polaris and got it to me at a fraction of what the actual bags cost, weeks after I'd have given up and just chased it through insurance.

I'm really sorry to hear you've had such a bad experience. Who were you speaking to?

If you paid by credit card, dispute the charge. the card company will reverse it and bada boom bada bing.

You really need to speak to the proprietor of the establishment though. If you are spending big money on basically a toy (hobby item, "lifestyle accessory" "midlife crisis" or whatever you want to call it, it is discretionary. You might decide, "Fuck it, I'll buy a boat and go fishing". Guess what? people in that industry understand customer service in my experience. Not so much the motorcycle industry.

and you are never wrong if you can get a better deal online. Consumers now have a choice. Exercise it.

They still don't want to give me the refund... I have give the matter to the court.
Now they found the parts (after a month) and they are imagining I will pay for their services. Purely left out of words!
I will recuperate my money no doubt, but now I want apologies too.. and I will make a formal complain to the Commerce Commission. The minimum fine there is 50000 and a nice audit, which is always good in this cases.
They are making nice remarks about my east european style and the fact that I came on a Harley... I'm in disbelief... that Peter or what's his name really doesn't realize in watta deep pool he is.
The wake up call will be refreshing though!

I wouldn't expect much from the commerce commission. They are useless. NZ retailers can pretty much say and do whatever they want without any recourse sadly.

Shame about the service. Even if you were a dick of a customer sometimes you have to suck it up as a retailer to avoid the trouble/bad press caused. Unfair but the one of the joys of business.

If it hasn't been over 30 days and they haven't supplied you with any of the order just talk to your bank and reverse the charges. It is the easiest route for everyone involved.

What's this "going to court" business? Are you trying to end up broke? It's Disputes Tribunal level.

This is an example of Guerilla marketing

In that it will hurt them big time given the amount of people who will be influenced by their bad service and shocking attitude. Companies spend big money on advertising and undo it all with this sort of example.

They can wield a big stick when needed. Normally a phone call from one of their investigators is enough to send the owners of a business into a back spin. You dont want to piss these guys off if you are in retail. Most people dont complain to them so they dont know about problems. But when they go after somebody they will know all about it.

A case of YMMV I guess. I've called twice and no dice either time. Even that 'carver' in Greymouth got off lightly.

Will depend on the evidence and what rules are broken. A lot of complaints are false. Or the law is not behind them.

They have strong powers to investigate, they are not to be taken lightly.
