    Bullshit eftpos machines

    They fuck me off.
What's so hard about standardising the fucking things?
You've got the most basic concept in the form of the card and yet manufacturing fuck heads seem to want a point of difference.

    supermarket vegetables

How do they manage to get lovely fresh local vegetables and still manage to put them out for sale withered up. Even if I pick the non withered ones they only last about two days max until they are fucked. The worst by far is Countdown.

Other vege shops can buy local and have fresh veges, so why can't the supermarkets?
I mentioned vegetables once, but I think I got away with it...........

The machines you use in the shop? If so:

I've been noticing this for some time now - out shopping pop into say four shops and make a purchase and each shop has a different machine to punch your numbers into. It is a rare thing to find the same machine in multiple shops when out shopping.

The ones that presently get my goat are set up to look just like a touch screen but they are not - every friggen time I stick a digit into the screen only to have to punch a button.

HOWEVER - my biggest gripe is dirty machines - those ones covered in hundreds of peoples filth - each time you push a button chances are you are exposing your finger to remnants of at least 10 penises, 50 noses, a couple of arse cracks and someone with a incurable sexual disease ......

I comment each time I find one of these vile instruments.

From what I'm told it's the "presentation" that causes this
The transport, storage, display etc are all designed to keep it looking pretty for you, but at a cost... once it's removed from said environment it's like pulling the life support. Course by that stage they got your cash moneys so

It's the same reason you can get an apple that looks brilliantly fresh, open it up to find it's all brown & rotten... Preservatives (face value only)

When you buy from a supermarket your veg have been stored, trucked to a collection point, stored some more and trucked to a distribution point, then trucked to either a store or a regional distribution hub so that the supermarkets can leverage their buying power. This sometimes means exporting out oranges to Australia and buying theirs to sell here as an example.

But from a small market gardener and their very best produce is sold in their store, probably the same day it was cut / picked.

But from an independent fruit and veg and you find they go to various markets and market gardener and buy whatever they can afford.
The chains are almost as bad as supermarkets but only for stuff not grown locally.

Cheap, always in stock, high quality, good value, pick 2.

A little bird told me that a lot of the veges from the market gardens here in Nelson get trucked to distribution centres in Christchurch, and then is trucked back to the supermarkets for sale. We try to not buy veges from supermarkets now. Lots of other options here now and the difference in quality is astounding.

Frankly I am amazed at the shit that the supermarkets actually put on display.

The next night our return load saw us pick up broccoli from bell block to take to Palmerston North.

Who cut the cheese..........Every time I get the cheese out to slice some for my sammies, her indoors has taken a corner off the block. Either that or sliced it on an angle that makes it hard to get a nice consistent slice.

If you cut the cheese, you could at least do it uniformly and evenly. Bloody wimmen.

Nah, wasn't me. I like the cheese nice and square at the end, and she owns up like it's no big deal.
