The images above are what i came across when i was painting triples and headlight and need some help. I wanted to lower the handle bars for the time being but couldnt go ahead with it as the circled parts have rubbed on the inside that slot into the triples, holding them at that height.

how do I get around this?

    Also changed the indicators.

The dog bones ( or handle bar risers ) are a fixed length.
to lower the handle bars you are going to have to install lower risers.
you will have to then check the handle bar clearance to the tank. ( lock to lock )

I think that's what your on about?

Dismantled the back yesterday, waiting for parts to arrive to setup brake light and indicators.
