    Motorcycling and apartment living?

    Hi, all.

I'm looking at moving into an apartment near the universities in the Auckland CBD. Being an older apartment there are no off-street parks. If i'm lucky I might be able to wheel the bike into a shared area and use a cover.

Are there any other options in the Auckland CBD for long-term motorcycle parking? I see Auckland Transport leases car parks, but not bike parks (to be fair I couldn't see anything on their website, but I haven't emailed to check). Has anyone leased a private space for a motorcycle? I wonder if the University of Auckland would be onto it enough to check if the bikes in the OGG building ever move.

Park in a car park building that gets locked up at night. Ride around the barriers, you're welcome.

Have you already found an apartment or are you talking about finding one etc.

There must be something that has lock up areas or a storage place nearby? Area you can install and garden shed? I don't think I could sleep if my bikes only protection was a bike cover.

Sell the bike. If you live near the Uni and go to the Uni you don't need it.
You're welcome. No need to thank me.

Rent a garage and try to get someone else to share it to split the costs.

    Get a perm.

They check the garage I think as a dude used to post up here about it and their events semi regularly. Might be a different building though, don't know the campus.

Facing much the same problem myself. Moving back in a couple of months to an apartment in the Heritage Bldg in Hobson St. We've bought a car park in the old Farmers/Wilsons car parking building the other side of Wyndham St and as it's a corner space it has room behind the car when it's parked. But the by-laws state only one vehicle per space and I wouldn't want to leave a motorbike in that car park as its a bit like a public walkway for disaffected and drunk youths.

Have thought of having a look around the controlled Heritage Towers car park and seeing if there's a corner where I could park a motorbike then approach the body corporate or the building manager and see if I could make some arrangement to use that space. But it'd need some authorisation as I'd need an entrance card.d

Park it under the casino and ride around the gates. It works, I did it for ages.
