GSR-750 - Is this the same as the GSX-S750?

I consider the GSR-750 one of the most underrated bikes available at the moment (especially as you can get the '14 brand new for $10.5 right now). There's bugger all information about this bike in the English-speaking world, but I see Suzuki has recently introduced the GSX-S750:

Is this exactly the same bike, more or less?

Yes. They didn't introduce a new bike. They introduced its new US nomenclature. Yamaha US call the two MT-09 versions released so far the FZ-09 and FJ-09. The US always likes to feel special.

GSR. Lovely! It's a grown-ups version of a GSXR IMHO. Mine is the best bike I've owned.

    Hi Mike

I recently purchased the gsr750 for that price. Really nice bike, very happy with it so far.
They only have a few nationwide at that price, so limited stock (be quick!). I noticed it shows the original rrp on the suzuki website now too.

They are releasing a gsr1000 very soon and the gsr 750 hasn't changed since 2011. I think you struggle to get anything similar/better new for that price

Is this different from the GSX-S1000? I would imagine those two are practically the same bike, but found (google) images with both badges GSR and GSX S. GSR is detuned version? If so - I imagine the S will be a bigger seller.

Suzuki kind of shoot themselves in the foot with their pricing. Having seen the bike at $10.5k, I would never consider paying $15k when I was ready to buy. If I walk into Moto City in 6 months and the same bike is $15k, I'll buy an MT 09 instead.

Likewise they fuck over people who just bought one at full retail by screwing their resale value.

Just completely utterly wrong. As I've already pointed out, different markets get the same bike with different names. The GSR bikes, both 750 and 1000 have retuned versions of the K5 iteration of their GSXR sibling. The 1000cc version is going to be very special. The problem with the GSR750 is that a naked 750 with 100hp is regarded as a "Girl's" bike or something a learner could aspire to in a couple of years. So they sit around not selling.

You;re being a bit harsh. The GSR750 didn't exactly fly out the door and this will be "New Old" stock and rather than fucking people over on resale it might help them adjust to their 4 year old bike being worth $7k instead of the $11k they all seem to think it's worth.

Blue Wing Honda are much better at comprehensively fucking their customer's resale over. The GSR was good value at $15k , it's phenomenal at $11k. But it didn't hit $11k new until prevous customer GSR resale figures should have been well under that. Blue Wing will launch a bike aat $27k, sell 2, drop the price to $20k the next year, sell 3, and then drop the price to $11k the next. For new-old stock.

Honda did it to me. I got a sp1 for $28,500 and 6 months later $19,995. Ill never buy another Honda again.
I think its madness and they should load a buyer up with extras like free servicing and accessories to sale off remaining stock rather than change peoples resale value.

I test rode the mt09. It was great but was it worth the extra money? I agree though, if the gsr had been 14k it would have been over my budget.

I couldn't justify it. The GSR does what I need a bike to do, plus the dealer gave me a good part ex price on my triumph.

Yes I realised after I saw Mike's post that I hadn't read the whole thread.

Looks good either way but will it compete with Monster 1200, Tuono1100 and KTM 1290?

Same engine ... slightly de-tuned to put the torque somewhere else ... and with a more upright riding position. A gentleman's bike!

It will kill the Monster and Tuono. It will struggle to compete with the KaToom. But that's the wrong market segment. These bikes are for old blokes who can't be bothered with the agony a 1 hour ride generates and want a bike they can actually use with the best ever 1000cc 4 cylinder motorcycle engine. The Suzukis will be for people who don't need to reaffirm their coolness by riding a Euro. They probably also want value for money and reliability. Think of them as an aggressive naked bike and aggressive sport tourer that are more sport than commuter and tourer respectively. FZ1 rather than FJR1300.

I do hope you are right, and the accountants are kept away. Suzuki could hit a home run with this if equipment levels and finish are good or it could be a bigger version of the pig GSR750 IMHO. The Gsr has value on its side and that's it. Heavy, nobbled engine, suspension stolen from bic pens, push bike brakes, cheapest possible swing arm etc etc. a swing and a miss. Mt09 is better, but really is a $20000 bike by the time you factor in proper suspension, exhaust and sorting out that awful fueling. Kawasaki z800 might be a better bet, but again low spec and as heavy as the moon.
    All IMHO of cause!
