Ahhhh..... ferry rides It was a long cue at checkin, but I thought this was pretty cool.

A great big fcuk off remote control train
It was full ferry this trip, with the sevens finishing the night before and the end of a long weekend. At least there was preferential parking for BMW's

I found a seat in a corner, on the floor and amused myself for what seemed like 3 weeks....
That trial over with, a ride round Queen Charlotte was in order
I saw Padmei as I was stopped at Havelock and after catching up and making him pull over so I could ask about the Maungatapu access , and getting an invite for a coffee when I got to Nelson.... I turned off at Pelorus and headed on up the road/track. It's been a while since I've been up it.
Almost home.... you can nearly see our house George...

    and down the other side

I was wishing I'd put a smaller sprocket on at this stage It's a big thing to stop on steep downhills ...
Had a catchup with Padmei over a coffee and cigar
and made my way back home, ending another cool trip.

I think I'm done with the North Island for a bit..... I still have unfinished business down south too
Also the plan is to click over 100,000 k's on the bike this year, just because
So hitch up your skirts and hold onto your hats, I'm not done yet

that's what we thought about the north... now we have to go to our sons wedding at castle point... so might as well drag our arses around the naki etc... for a few days before having to head down the west coast to home

don't come south until we get back, that way we can head over to Qt then the earnslaw etc....

I am enjoying reading about your and George's travels.

    Cheers.
Yip there's plenty of exploring to do up that way. and usually something new to see.
Glad to have you along for the ride too. BTW..... on the coffee bags too, they're now a standard part of my travelling kit.

I've used Russell Harris bags, however have been introduced to Jed's Coffee Bags and they are a local product and just as good a coffee as the RH coffee... so now alternate between the two...

those Radio-controlled shunting engines are pretty cool to watch.
Was waiting for ferry a few years ago, me and our 6year old boy trying to figure out who was the driver!
The guy wandered over and was showing my lad how it worked,, then hung the pack on him, and let him operate it for a minute when there was a spare bit of track. (was before OSH and recent H&S bullshit!)
For a kid who was mad on trains it was huge and he absolutely loved it.
Many thanks to that guy for giving the kid a huge grin....

Pretty cool, but inaccurate. The wind here is going easterly, not north easterly.

    Nice day in Wainui bay

And continuing on.... Out to Totaranui

Took a brief detour up to Birds Clearing

Some days it's good to be alive, and chilled out

Back down the hill and a walk around "The Grotto" in Clifton

Followed by a decent feed from The Curry Leaf in Takaka town, Yum!!

    and head back home....

Stopping briefly at Harwoods lookout to soak up the sunset

    Mint afternoons riding
