Essential info for the newbies to SASS:
South Auckland Street Skills or SASS

WHAT: Learning and improving Riding Skills
WHEN: Tuesday Nights
WHERE: Meet at Z (ex-Shell) Service Station, Cnr Great South Road and Taka St, TAKANINI (the one with a Burger King)
WHO: Riders new and old, and anyone getting back into Motorcycling (must be legal & hold a motorcycle license).
Weather and venue permitting - Heavy Rain may mean that we are watching DVDs. Showers are OK, look on the thread for more up-to-date information.
Depending on the number of riders and their experience levels, a short ride may be included to practice further skills. If there are enough riders, some nights can be split into two different groups.

Some nights may include:
Practicing essential skills and techniques in a quiet carpark
On-the-road practice which may see you doing up to a 1hr - 1 1/2hr ride.

WHY:
- Practice essential skills for staying alive on the road.
- Practical help with your riding.
- Fun times with fellow riders, with great stories and discussions.
- Build friendships, solicit advice and pick-up riding tips.

MEET at Z station Takanini -----------> before 6.55pm

START ride -----------------------------> 7pm

FINISH ride at ex-Manukau City Council car park for slow-speed safety exercises -----> usually 8pm-8.15pm
(next to the new Manukau train station & opp. police station)

SOCIAL time @ BRONCOS after car park exercises -----------> 8.45pm-ish

Cost: Nil, nada, zip, zero, nothing... Just your time and attention.

Here are some interesting (or possibly, depending on your point of view, mind-numbingly boring and pointless) stats about last Tuesday's ride:

Distances: My home to Z Takanini: 31Kms. Z Takanini to where we stopped at Mercer: 52Kms. Mercer to Broncos, Manukau: 58Kms. Broncos to (my) home: 24Kms.
Total Kms ridden: 165. (The ride took my odo from 93Kms when I started up to 258Kms when I got home.)

Fuel: From filling up at Z Takanini to filling up at Z Mt Albert at the end of the ride: 6.18Ltrs consumed to do 134Kms trip, which equates to 4.61L/100Kms.

IF you like that sort of think try www.fuelly.com or on iphone fuelcubby... then you can really bore people with the minute of your detail... such as average fuel consumption and how much that changes by with different gear combinations.... lol.

Lol just looked up your sig, if you want to take it to the next level, gas cubby lets you track similar detail about servicing costs etc.
Eg I you include servicing, repairs, bolt Ons, tyres, insurance etc the last year on the cb1300 over 24359km has cost me $4556. Not counting the stator that died but I have yet to buy a replacement. Lol

I thought that when I wasn't there you did bigger rides. Apparently this is not so.
I can fill at the beginning (put my mileage to zero) and when we get to Broncos (often missing the carpark) it is reading just over 100 kms. This is when we do Waiuku Tuakau Karaka loop

You guys need to toughen up and do a big ride when you say you're going to.

I can see a challenge here......

Count me in on the VL. Dont forget your fancy meter. Still a bit tentative on the GSX now she is higher. Getting there though did a Maraetai run on wet road this evening. Must be a popular run lots of others going the other way.
