However, as i remember it, everything was pump fuel - which was taken under the ACU regs of the time to include avgas...except supercharged fourstrokes which were limited to 100cc but could use open fuel. Pre '89 this would have included Nitro. The Methamol/Nitro option disappeared from buckets when it went from other classes too. I walked out of that years conference in protest....
Background - I'd been involved with the fastest F1 bike in NZ for 3 seasons using a meth/Toluene blend plus tony Mcmurdo's F3 and F2 bikes using the same blend plus big jolts of Nitro...I felt justifiably aggrieved that having out thought the opposition we were being banned.

I never knew the f3 GPZ500 was on the juice too though. I have that KB article somewhere with the write up on the F3 bike.

500 kawa twins - Kelford have the Megacycle profile we used. Good springs are mandatory - we used to regularly break R&D springs which were the best we could get at the time. .060in off the barrel, cut the piston squish area to match and hand finish the crowns to give clearance = 12.6:1 com. Shot peened rods, clearanced properly. Absolute must is remove the rotor from the alternator boss and make up a lightweight trigger on the boss. Don't do this and torsional resonances break the crank....Some porting required, exhausts in particular need work. Find an ignition box with a more agressive curve and higher limiter. When we put mine on avgas we didn't seem to lose much if anything. Mine on 36mm flatslides made about 72 at the wheel. Tony's on 38's and nitro made about 88 at the wheel i think.
mine's still in the barn, needs a rebuild, one day.....

Interesting to watch the way the short bike of Nathaniel turns as opposed to everything else on the track. Also his weight is way forward compared to almost everyone else.

    Cheers Grump.
This now sounds like a bit of fun with a boat anchor...
I wander if Scotty can be convinced to build another frame.
If we could get close to 70Hp it would be a cool club level bike.

Boat anchor indeed, i'm looking at the quoted weights for buckets and can tell you a race prepped GPZ500 engine, bare and dry weighs 72kg.....But that's lighter than an NC30 motor.

77kg and 26hp FXR, that is a way better bike than the 2T Beast.
