Consequences if caught riding on new road not open

We have one of the RONS almost finished near here. Its a lovely looking piece of 4 lane highway and its just begging for someone to go for a blast on it before its full of traffic.
Easy enough to get onto, the gates and fencing around it are token gestures.
I'm wondering what I can be charged with if caught.

Just say your GPS directed you onto it.

Plus anything is legal until you're caught isn't it?

If it is 'closed' it isn't a public road, so charges could possibly include trespass? However, that's a civil and not criminal offence (so long as you don't cause any damage).

You have to be warned that you are trespassing and given the opportunity to leave the premises before you can be done for it.

A mate went for a little pootle along the new NW motorway prior to opening to the public. He seemed to have enjoyed the opportunity...
Faulty speedo needle. It seemed to want to magnetize itself against the right hand side of the dial. Guess it must have been faulty.

I'm sure you'll be fine as long as you have your Sitesafe card.

Don't do anything overly stupid and you won't have to worry about getting caught. If you do just act incredibly thick and say you got all foncused about where to go.

I've heard of a guy who knows a guy whos auntie used to repair shoe laces for the midwife of Pauls (he sells kettles made of plastic at the market, tough peddle) first son Masport, who is friends with the butcher that I buy meat off whenever I'm in Hong Kong that has been know to do such things frequently on SH1 road upgrades with no dire consequences

He doesn't bloody post about it on the interweb though, and if he didn't it would be before the fact

You need do it before the new Workplace NZ laws are in effect. Dangerous act on a construction site could end up with $600,000 dollar fine.

When the toll road opened did the ride got the T-shirt. The cops watched bikes and cars at speeds that would have cost instant loss of licence and just laughed because the road wasn't a road until Monday.

Hmmm - no one gives a shit if you do that on new subdivisions - heck it is almost encouraged as you may end up purchasing a section.

    NO pictures ... didn't happen.

The silly buggers that get caught ... just ruin it for everybody else.
