You can at several points in the clip see the driver is clearly not thinking straight.
He is not on a fit state to be a judge let alone jury or executioner.

Civilised society had no place for vigilante justice when said justice is issued unjustly.

Agree that the driver's state of mind is questionable...

However, if splitting/filtering is illegal then that could easily be enough to set off the driver's indignation about the biker and his riding.

Yes, the driver's reaction is, to our eyes, probably over-the-top.

However, not that many years ago this would have been settled with a pair of six-shooters.

Are you saying what the motorist did was ok if the bike was in fact (and most likely) lane splitting?

No, I am not condoning the motorist's actions.

However, it may explain the motorist's reaction or over-reaction, a case of the 'final straw that broke the camel's back'.

In Auckland, it is illegal to park in a cycle lane.

Should I be cut some slack for headbutting Len Brown yesterday then?

The car driver is brave to do that in a state which permits concealed carry, as well as open carry, without any CC permit required.

My wife would have smashed him over also if she had been shoved. Wouldn't have been video because I would have turned away. The sight of blood horrifies me.

I've had a similar experience, fortunately in a car so not in the position of some fuckwit assaulting the missus and trying to push me and my bike over. Reported the rego to the police and the reply was that he is a known nutjob and they'll go and have a word with him........

Regardless of whatever minor perceived traffic offence occurred, the car driver was a nutjob and deserved everything he got, and was probably lucky he didn't get pushed into traffic for his trouble.

I think my response would have been a hard kick with my steel toe bike boots into his goolies. He'd have been a surviving winner of the Darwin award!

...another example of why HD cameras can be a good thing to have

I thought the guy did very well in controlling the situation and himself ...and so what if he committed a minor traffic offense, that's no reason at all to commit an assault!
