    Bloody motorbikes

Hi all, been a while since on here but in need of some advice cos I've run out of ideas.
    So here's my problem:
I was at our local track when cockup started, had just landed a medium size jump and bike started popping and running rough.would rev up albeit rough as guts but wouldn't idle at all.loaded and went home to investigate a carby fault( in my mind it seemed that was the problem).pulled carb out and down, found no problems other than my pilot mix screw was missing and seemed obvious that I'd found the cause. ordered new part, fitted it when it arrived but it wouldn't start other than loud backfire about every third or fourth kick, hmmm.when it did start it was exactly as it was at the track, popping and very rough running.so checked timing marks and took it to local suzuki agent who did a compression test.all seemed to be well.was advised that it could be either stator or cdi. I got a mates bike of the same model, swapped cdi, stator, carby, coil, full loom one at a time and still have the same fault.all my components work on his bike just to fuck with me even more??????. Have read a few forums and anything similar seems to be resolved with one of the actions I've already done. Has anyone seen this cockup before.would reeeeeeaaaally appreciate input. Bike is a 05 rmz450 and has a 490 kit.

    Blah

told yah it problem was its yellow lol

that aside i built the exact same model while we where in the states although it was just standard 450 like most i built while there it was missing its pilot jet replacing mostly fixed it never the less it never really ran that great. id do a tooth count on the cam chain 15 links between the cam marks and double check it all ( had a crf250 jump a tooth took us for ever to work it out looked right when 1st inspected )
    fuel tap blockage
    muffler blockage
    burnt valve
leaking head gasket ( was why the rmz i had needed a rebuilt in 1st place) run it with cap of rad see if it pukes out

Could possibly be the accelerator pump playing up. Had a similar sounding issue with my KTM.

I had a similar thing with my 06 rmz450, was the carb seat that the needle slots into. It was worn, made it hard to start and run rough.

Thanks to you guys with advice. It has to be a timing thing I'm thinking, have swapped everything over to other bike and it started and ran fine so I know it not electric or fuel.have checked condition of carb insulator and its fine. It's only done 7hrs on a new top end so that does seem fine, compression test showed good times. So going with bartys theory, got flywheel puller to pull it off tonight but they gave me the wrong one so will have to wait another day. Will probably stay yellow thanks tho. Hopefully it will being going by the time you are here next week Barty

Float levels can make it fucked too. the jump landing can whack it out of spec.
