Had a Mk4 KTT visiting last Monday night, we got quite cheerful...
Seen a description of the clutch on the big port AJS that was far far simpler. One spring one cork face plate come sprocket, two plain plates that's it.

AJS clutches got heavier from that point onward...Here's a cheerful guy on a Big Port. it's the old man and he'd won the NZ Beach race title 3 years running in the mid 20's. It's an ex works bike too. Ivan Rhodes reckoned they did around 10 per year and post TT week sent them to agents round the world.

heh heh heh... a tie I reckon. They did learn how to slice a finger open on scissors right after a mini "look, I'm being careful with these scissors" speech, how to cover your apple with glitter and glue by accidentally dropping it onto the table and watching it gather moss, burn oneself repeatedly with a glue gun, learn that tooth brushing is important... and likely a few other things. Fun had by all at alls expense

Well fuck me, the sky's not falling after all...

    http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/7522...obal-un-report

"The report said New Zealand's life expectancy at birth increased by 8.7 years since 1980, years spent at school increased by almost 12 months and the gross national income per capita increased by 59 per cent between 1980 and 2014.

Life expectancy is 81.8 years, Kiwis expect to spend about 19 years in education and the gross income per person is $48,400 (US$32,689).

"New Zealand's human development index is above the average for countries in the very high human development group and above the average for countries in the OECD."

That fails to take into account a cost of living that has outpaced those income figures especially when you take into account the increased number of people working per household to earn that figure.
It also disregards the fact that our standard of living has fallen compared to the other countries that we used to lead.

We have fallen in GDP/ capita steadily since the 50's

GDP is somewhat dependent on exchange rates, which have been known to be somewhat unrelated to productivity before now.

And they're not actually measuring GDP anyway, they're measuring performance based on Human Development Index, which includes a bunch of outcomes related to quality of life.

Interesting to note that the biggest drop in NZ GDP was related to Britain's entry to the EU and subsequent trade barriers to NZ goods. Which sorta hints that free trade benefits producers, rather than consumers, dunnit?

All I can say is it isn't as rosy as you were making out in regards to how well off we are now.
What were the figures the other day 1/3 of childrens std basic daily needs not being met?

H, by any reasonable comparison to any other country we do OK.

By any reasonable comparison to any other era it's as rosy as a fucking rosy thing.

All I've ever said is that the overwhelmingly negative reporting, reinforced by noisy socialist lobbying is completely at odds with the facts.

Gwarn, have a lookse, choose any metric at random: http://ourworldindata.org/data/econo...-satisfaction/

You might find somewhere/somewhen that's a better place to live from a fairly narrow point of view, but in shit that matters we're in a profoundly salubrious place/time. You don't know how propitious are the circumstances, Bruce.

OK........wow...... we used to lead the world we were the envy of most of the developed world for pretty much everything.
So surely You are not denying that our measured living income and pretty much every social and economic standards have slipped rather dramatically compared to other developed countries are you?
