My wet weather gear is Hi Vis (a lot cheaper than black for the same degree of waterproof).
Last week I went to a course. As I am peeling my gear off I get asked do I work for Mainfreight?
This week I went to the same course, but exterior cladding black leather. As I am taking my gear off I get asked (by the same person) "oh, do you ride a motorbike"? (cue a room full of people noticing for the first time I have arrived in bike gear and carrying a rack bag.)
How did that tidbit of information escape them last week?

I actually rode with a new Hi Vis vest Yesterday Arvo coming back in the dark later on.My First time riding with any type of HI Vis on at all.
I noted a big difference in oncoming traffic reactions to seeing me during the day part of the ride.
In Hawkes bay we tend to be a oncoming vehicle target fixation drifting towards the center line while looking at you bunch of!.....90% the time not some of the time or the odd driver.
In a car or on a bike I noticed this bad habit.
Today I seen that the whole seeing me start drifting over then realization "Shit im drifting over" thing was happening further away from me and a lot quicker than past situations.

I wasn't riding like a cock (not when they took me out .. I can't say I didn't ride like a cock .. just not those times ..) was tottling along minding my own business a car failed to give way ... and oncewhen a car tried to run a red light ...(I hit both of them on the side) Lucky I was ATGATT.
I did hit a push bike when I was riding like a cock ... (I was on a Honda Step thru' racing a Honda 100 .. for shits and giggles ...) no damage to me but the pushbike was a write off .. and the rider was shaken .. and dumb .. he tried to run a red light - on a pushbike for God sake ..

You must have a strange breed of cyclist where you are...they all run reds here. And in most major cities in NZ from what i've seen.
