And the first day of the MotoGP test at phillip Island was affected by rain. Alex Briggs said the weather was changing faster than they could change the setup on the bike. Seriously.

So it can be assumed that the times are even more meaningless than is usually the case.

Seems Maverick really likes PI. Finished top on day 2,just ahead of Marquez. Now if we could just get Stoner to wild card there it could be an awesome race

He did well there last year, was ahead giving a run Pedrosa for quite some time from memory. Pedrosa usually struggles there due to his light weight causing rear grip issues onto the front straight so it will be interesting to see if he can put himself further up the time sheet on the new rubber. Looks like Honda still has lots more to worry about than getting good lap times though.
Looking good for the Suzuki though! Lets hope it is actually competitive and this isn't just his liking for the track shining through. Shows what a good chassis that Suzuki is, be good to see some trap speeds to see if it's any faster this year.

So, as the GP world gathers in Jerez and at Qatar for testing, Mat Oxley looks back at twenty five years of Dorna.

    Trump free zone

    Rossi crashes
    Lorenzo fastest
    Vinales second
    Crutchlow fastest Honda
    Bradders heads MM and Pedro
    HRC bike sprouts wings
    All new Aprilia appears

Normal service might resume tomorrow. Or not.

    Afterthoughts:

The satellite Ducs are all looking good.

Yamaha are testing new, bigger wings.

Wings must be contagious, even Mahindra are wearing them in Moto 3.

Vinales does not have the seamless gearbox yet. (Suzuki have them at Qatar for testing.)

Soup: First blood on the sandy track went to Rossi who crashed unhurt in ten corners time. He was uninjured.

As the second day of testing at Qatar starts to wind down, Maverick Viñales remains fastest, leading Andrea Iannone by just under a tenth of a second. Jorge Lorenzo is in third, a pleasingly symmetric 0.099 seconds behind Viñales, and ahead of another gaggle of Ducatis, with Scott Redding ahead of Hector Barbera and Andrea Dovizioso, making it a clean sweep of Ducati flavors represented in the top five. Dani Pedrosa has jumped up the timesheets to be the first Honda rider in seventh, sitting just ahead of Valentino Rossi and Marc Marquez.
