Smashed our old record up the hill by 6 seconds. Great fucken weekend.

We only actually did two flying runs all weekend, the front caliper mount has moved along its pivot a tiny bit so we only did a single run yesterday and then settled in to watching everyone else.

Great event, more of you guys should come along.

Paeroa around '96, flipped over the jump just before the kink on the back straight.
I visited him in middlemore a few weeks later, that affected me a bit, even now. It wasn't pretty.

i was in the pub the night before when a sidecar racer told me he was going to remove his fairing as he was well up in the points and prepared for a bit of rough and tumble and didn't want to damage it. he was involved in this crash too

paeroa claimed after the famous forklift incident they'd had no serious accidents. shame they forgot about Phil and Jared Lovely boy when he was helicoptered away with a 1 in 8 chance of survival...

Ah... the tone of this thread is a bit tough ATM for this post, but I'll ask anyway.

If I was to leave my brain at home to save weight and turn up at Taupo for the Have a Go Day, what do I need to bring?

For example I have leathers but 2 piece and they don't zip together
I may not be as good as I once was, but I'm as good once as I always was.

What you've got will be fine. We only ask that sturdy clothes ie. good riding apparel be worn at minimum, leathers are better but not compulsory. Obviously helmets and gloves are compulsory. The less you wear the more your risk.

However it would be best you bought along your brain....it's our arse on the line as well

    Thank you sir.
I was thinking that leaving my brain at home might be necessary to get me to front up in the first place, but your point is well taken.
Sadly, there's a strong possibility that work may get in the way ATM. Will have to see what can be arranged

Top effort, how can the caliper move? I've thought about doing it a few times but it's one ferry crossing and associated cost too much

Why the fuck would anyone let work interfere in going out and doing what they want to do?

Fair question and in days gone by I've said "fuck it, get another job when I get back, if I have to".

Just at the moment however, I need to keep the one I have because mostly, it enables me to do what I want to. Sometimes dates clash but.
I may not be as good as I once was, but I'm as good once as I always was.

Great effort mate and I see Kick has asked too, what does that bit about the caliper mount moving mean and why couldn't you move it back?
    Cheers

leave it here after the nationals, I can take it down for you, and you can take it home in plastic bags when you get out of hospital.
