    Mamaku-Leslie Rd-Putaruru

    Hi
Does anyone know if this road is open and passable, these days?

I'd not ride it alone though, go off you won't get seen.

    Thanks guys.
I went through there many years ago with a group led by Clint.
There was a difficultish bog patch in the middle stages back then.
I was more wondering if anyone had been through the road recently.

Been as far as the second blue pools walkway carpark last summer. Expect lots of loose chip, bumps and foreign drivers crossing centreline, doing u tuirns in dumb places etc.... haven't been any further than that.
Was up the back of Lakes Rotoehu and Rotoiti other weekend in the cage visitng stepson. We turned off SH30 in cage and went Manawahe, Pongakawa valley, Rotoehu, Maniatutu roads back to SH33. They've started logging up the back of there so its weekend only territory but some awesome views to be had, could see ocean over Tauranga way. Will have to go back through on bike sometime, much more fun.

Last I heard Leslie road was gated off at the Putaruru end but there may have been a track around the gate, have a look at this thread on the 4x4 forum: http://www.offroadexpress.kiwi/Forum...p?f=27&t=41663

The web of roads between Rotoma-Rotoehu-Rotoiti & the coast is our backyard, lots of fun stuff in there. Sometimes I'll take the long way home from work through McIvor, Matahi, Rendall, Manawahe etc, Or we'll take a Sunday ride via Pongakawa, Maniatutu etc to Okere for a coffee or beer. Pikowai Road is actually an identical case to Leslie Road in that it is blocked off at the coast end by a gate in an area where the actual road deviates from the legal line.

    Cheers
    Clint
