Example ... Barbarossa, why was the Russian army over taken in the early stages so quickly

it might be the opposite , for ex: yes , Stalin was famous for shooting his officers , how many were shot after Barbarossa? ,,,not many, if at all ,,,now why would that be ??? and IF the Russians WERE on the offensive that would mean Germany HAD to attack , and even a raving loony would know that having a second front against Russia isnt one of the best ideas UNLESS , one thinks that the other front may not exist , i.e become peaceful . , i.e Germany expected Britain to become an ...ally ( after all shacht and Montague Norman were best buddies ....)

Unfortunately your post ignores the fact that Hilter always intended to invade Russia just as he always intended to invade Poland as he deemed them to be inferior Slavs, plus both Russa and Poland had a lot of resources Germany desperately needed to continue to fight a war. oil, coal, gas, timber, arable farm land, slave labour.

Stalin could not dispose of his military offices after he was invaded, as he already had killed off too many prior. thus he desperately needed them.
