To keep you going until the weekend, the latest from David Emmett and Mat Oxley:

    http://www.motorsportmagazine.com/op...ead-soap-opera

    https://motomatters.com/analysis/201...riders_to.html

Nicky Hayden will replace Jack Miller at Aragon, Emmett says it is eight years since Hayden had a bike of this class. How time flies. The fractures in Miller's hand were opening under the pressure of riding so he needed time to heal. Miller hopes to be fit to ride at Phillip Island of course.

Nick fucking Harris...where do I start...

Watching MotoGP for me consists of sitting in stunned silence, marveling at how a guy, who has been commentating on this sport for fucking EVER, seems to know zero about riding a motorcycle.

"...and he tries to put it up the inside of ..." when the guy's three bike lengths back and isn't even thinking about a pass.

I don't mind any of the others, just get rid of Nick Harris.

    Phillip Island this year

A big treat for my wife and I: we'll be going to Phillip Island. Just for the Sunday but it's our first actual MotoGP race. We've been following the races for a few years with the Dorna Videopass, watching all three days. Also races from earlier years.

I'm well retired from riding bikes myself but in my day I went to Mansfield, Lower Hutt street, etc. and I remember Graeme Crosby squealing the front tyre each time he entered the corner I was at. I rode a BSA B50 (the fake new goldstar) at the time.

But that was then. This year we'll be old crocks. My wife's waiting for a hip-joint replacement and she's in pain, can only hobble around. So we'll be taking the 6:45am catch-a-coach from Melbourne to the track and looking for a nice place to sit in the shade! Near a coffee stand I hope.

    Anyone else here going?

Yes me and Partner are going. I have got Gardner Straight Stand tickets seeing as it is the first time we are going. Also got a house on the Island to stay in too so it should be a hoot.

Ah yes the B50, had a couple of those.

No, sadly I'm not going this year. Expect all four seasons every day like here... I guess the main straight somewhere might be as good as any, opposite a big screen for preference. Depends where the bus drops you too. I don't remember much in the way of trees near the track though. In between races there's the trade exhibits so there's cover there.

The food on sale might be a tad better than the hot dog and chips crap we get here, I didn't try them, but saw a bratwurst stand and one selling maram burgers.

Those bikes are LOUD so if either of you are sensitive it might pay to take plugs. There is a local FM station broadcasting interviews and commentary, so earphones and a cell phone or something to listen to that is good. Not so much during the actual race though on account of the noise.

I understand your lady's pain. The first time I went I was waiting on a new knee.

Honda dealers can get a lightweight plastic "Honda Racing" poncho that is worth its weight in gold in the rain - especially since they only cost about $2.50 each. They aren't usually in stock but they'll get them in.

Hahahaaaa. Pritch, you make me laugh. Hahahahaaarrr.

DP will win, he will make MM his bitch just like last round. MM will scratch his head, remember that DP is the fucking man and accept defeat.

Or so the story goes in my head.

DP's leading on the time sheets now.

MM might as well hang up his leathers, put on a mini skirt and hold Dani's umbrella on the grid...
