    BOTS Paeroa 2017

The forecast for Paeroa looks a bit dickey-depending of course on your source of the forecast-This recent Easterly weather pattern is likely to cause some problems for several days.At best it looks like the odd light shower for Sunday, would this be enough to cancel the meeting?-I ask as I have a fair distance to travel and from Paeroa I have planned to carry on and do a NI road trip for a few days more-if I go to the Met Service 10 day forecast (which I don't really trust) the whole area I intended to cover looks like crap weather,so I am debating whether to pull the plug until summer comes back.Any thoughts on how riders and organisers will react to inclement weather?

Now that's a good idea-will do tomorrow when the forecasts are a bit more up to date. You may recall two years back that weather forced the cancellation but this was after many fans had paid their entry fee so there were some grumpy folk out there. You could get your money back, but like myself and many other folk,we did not bother and let Paeroa keep it as a donation towards their running costs for that day.

Yes, I recall, and I bet as part of their management plan they'll have some form of weather limitation.

FYI these events are probably fully underwritten, which means the only people you're helping by not getting a refund are the insurance companies, as you're reducing their losses.

    Lemon and Paeroa.
DeMyer's Laws - an argument that consists primarily of rambling quotes isn't worth bothering with.

I seriously doubt if the clubs doing street race meetings would take out weather insurance. Public liability, yes, but that wouldn't be cheap, even through MNZ.
Weather is a gamble you take with these events.

The 10 day forecasts are computer generated directly from global climate models, and are really just an indication of what could happen.

Moise, I reckon I could stick my fucken big toe out the window and do a better job of predicting the weather.

I gave up on Met Service forecasts yonks ago-WINDYTY is the go these days, they show the weather in any area in NZ in 3 hour increments, 5 days ahead with a high degree of accuracy, its also updated every hour.FYI it shows Paeroa weather for Sunday as partly cloudy all day and no rain, the organisers must use Windy as well because they are saying its all go.

Metservice is the same except they say few showers.
