    We have much larger events here than the Woodstock Rally that seem to operate without the need for rude Nelson TAG cops.
    We actually kicked out all the ones that were not so great at policing back to the cities a few years ago.

    Several rants here.

    1. I have a Mobil 40c off per liter supermarket docket. I've been running the tank down to maximize my savings. I start filling up today and the pump stops at $20 - WTF - I head in and ask for help - apparently I am doing it wrong I am told. I point out I'm a couple weeks off 53 - pretty sure I can pump petrol, please check. No sir you are doing it wrong. I offer her a bet - the cost of lunch, I buy if she is right, she shouts if I am right.

    At this point a angry dude walks in shouting his F-in pump has stopped. 95 by any chance I ask- yep. Turns out they have run out.

    How I ask - she tells me they no longer use the 'stick' to measure tanks - it's all electronic and a e-mail goes out if it is low. But no trucks have arrived............

    Fucks sake. I still have the docket.

    2. Battery power drills. My batteries have died. Cost a fortune to replace sir, if we can even get those old ones just buy a new one. So I've been on the hunt for a single drill with two batteries that does not cost $300. Sounds easy right? Apparently not - everyone has trade ones (expensive) or combo deals. I don't want two drills or a drill and another tool I already have.

    Finally scored a deal at Mitre 10 today. 20v, two batteries, makes the right noises. $140. Thanks.

    Had to ride through my local Mobil on Friday as they had no 95. This morning I really needed petrol and had read of the shortage so had to force myself to use Z. Was all set for an argument about not taking my helmet off but this time it never got mentioned.

    What the fuck is wrong with the younger generation...

    When you live in a house that belongs to someone else (a bank, mostly), paying rent is not optional depending on what other expenses you have that week.

    I think I'm now officially a grumpy old cunt, as evidenced by;

    a) referring to people younger than me as 'the younger generation'

    b) actually being called a grumpy old cunt by ignorant young people lounging around in the way of foot traffic on new years eve

    But anyway, when did paying for the place you live become something you did if you felt like it?

    Welcome to grumpy old cunt land....The bonus to qualifying is that you can now be as terse or downright rude as you like.

    Tenants get it pointed out that a public holiday is not the same as a rent holiday - and this constitutes a warning under the tenancy act....

    At the same time, and for the same reasons, that many people now live these lives / act out these 'principles' -

    - I don't feel like working so I'll just collect OPM (Other People's Money) that the Guvvermin gets from them

    - I don't feel like staying married or with one partner so I'll just screw around and OPM can pay to house, clothe, feed and look after the ex(es)

    - I don't feel like paying for the kid(s) I fathered (or pushed out) so I'll just hit the road and OPM can house, etc. the ex(es) and kids

    - I don't feel like adopting behaviours such as learning at school, learning a trade or getting a qualification, delaying marriage and having kids until I can afford them, running an old small car and living in an old, small, house in the provinces until I have earned enough to pay for more; instead I'll just blame colonialism, sexism, racism, classism and Te Patriarchy of Pallor and wait for the Guvvermin to confiscate OPM and pass it to me.

    Because they can.

    In that case I'm well and truly there. Standard conversation at work;
    'we have this planned for this week, who's doing it?'
    'did I reply to your email?'
    'not sure....possibly not'
    'then it's probably not happening, anyway, I've got stuff to do'
