I must say I was surprised at the cost of a filter for the GSXR at Courtesy Suzuki /Ford a few days ago.
    $23.oo with gst !!!!!
    Good to support shops.
Filter was genuine Suzuki too , not a pirate jobbie.

You'd never go hungry with Nigella Gaz.
If it weren't for flashbacks...I'd have no memory at all..

I think that's what I paid last time too. Pretty reasonable I thought. However, the price of Motul 5100 seems to vary quite a bit between suppliers.

Yep - I've just seen the story about Cycletreads too. Not clever PR from the Cycletreads chappie if I'm being brutally honest. I certainly wouldn't be using them in the future based on what I'd read there.

Perhaps this story will have a positive outcome when Cycletreads realise their mistake and refund the chap. But I'm not holding me breath...

SuperCrap have Penrite motorcycle oils. I bought the last 4l pack at 35% off, under $50 for a PAO/ester full synthetic is good value.

So he just ignores a Disputes Tribunal ruling. The Burger King of bike shops?

Well Cycletreads really got this one wrong. But looking at the google reviews, looks like this is not the only time.

    Interesting article.

I'd be interested in the history of the bike - who brought it into NZ as a broken machine and repaired it? Cycletreads?

That's the really dodgy part of the story. It should have never left the US, and certainly not been complied in NZ.

Both which were quite possibly not the fault of Cycletreads.

Having been misquoted myself I tend to take what is written with a pinch of salt. All they need to do is change the order of what you said and the flow of an interview can read dramatically different. There are only three quotes in the story, it is the words around them that the writer paints a picture with.

Not defending the shop or the owner. Just saying don't always believe everything you read.

The article say it was considered scrap and fairly sold as such.
Looks like whoever imported it into UnZud bought it in as parts then sold it as a complete bike.
The NZ laws need to be tightened up.

You are spot on with your view of how the media can, and often do, muddle things up to achieve a desired outcome to a story.

In this case I still reckon that Cycletreads could, if they so wished, have refunded the chap in question and offered him a good deal on another bike they had available. For the benefit of the positive PR if nothing else. They'd have also gotten themselves some repeat custom too no doubt.

Hopefully a fair outcome is achieved for the benefit of all parties. This will leave a bad taste in everybody's mouths if it stays as it is. Additionally this isn't the first negative report I've seen about Cycletreads and their attitude towards their customers. With the amount of competition in the area I'm surprised that they can sustain this outlook TBH.
