I would confess to a certain bias. I'm biased against grifting con men, thieves, fraudulent businessmen, draft dodging cowards, people who steal money from kids with cancer, and dopey bastards who try and pass themselves off as a stable genius. This is very interesting - because when I say that I don't believe Biden won legitimately - you were extremely quick to call this conspiratorial/delusional etc. And your rational for doing so was because it hadn't been proven in Court.

I then responded that whilst I couldn't meet the beyond all reasonable doubt threshold, I was happy with a preponderance threshold and you scoffed at that.

And yet... Now you are doing the same thing - stating an opinion on something that is not backed by a criminal conviction - How shall I respond?

Do I judge you by the standards that you set for others and call you delusional and conspiratorial? That would certainly have a nice Karmic ring to it.

Sure, that was part of his speech and should be taken into consideration. But I doubt it's going to hold as much weight as the rest of it. And he wasn't the only one, and he's prone to hyperbole etc etc but he is the President, so the buck stops with him, doesn't it?

To me, it's the most relevant part - since it's the section where he directly incites the crowd to an action, and in that statement it is explicitly, crystal clear that he wants a Peaceful protest and for Voices to be heard.

But I feel the bottom comment is the more interesting one:

Nobody's saying he 'ordered' anyone to do anything, the charge is 'incitement'. It's a grey area, but I think it deserves examination in this extraordinary case.

Let me start by hypothetically agreeing with this impeachment.

I could hear an argument that says something along the lines of 'as a public figure, you should have known better' - And if that is the standard that the society wishes to adopt, fair enough...

But that standard must be applied equally - which would mean pretty much every single Democrat who encouraged people to go out and Protest with BLM after the protests had turned into riots, with people murdered and buildings burned down - they too, must be held accountable by that same standard.

Off the top of my head - that means Kamala Harris, Nancy Pelosi, every member of 'the squad', Joe Biden, Half of Hollywood etc. etc. all made statements encouraging people to take part in the riots.

So, this leaves me at the point of saying simply this:

Based on what was actually said, as per the transcript, this Impeachment is weaker than the last and it really betrays how 'confident' the Democrats are with their position (and one might posit a suggestion that this is the manifestation of a guilty conscious...).

However, if they want to set that Standard for Public figures, I'm fine with it - so long as they judge themselves by the same standard they judge others.

It's the most relevant line, since it's the one that has a direct call to go do the specific action.

However - the usage of the word 'Fight' in American Political vernacular isn't anything new or anything that is unique to Trump. The left have been banging on about Fighting for their right to be heard, fighting for this country against trump, Fighting for their right to Paaaaaaaarty etc.

It's the line where he directs the crowd to do something - it's the actually incitement to an action 'Go and protest this building', and in the call to action it is explicitly clear 'Peacefully and make your voices heard'.

Everything else is just a post-hoc justification or attempts and linguistic Gymnastics - there is zero ambiguity in that statement as to what the intent was.

The whataboutism is entirely relevant to my point of being different standards of behavior.

It's one rule if you taking part in an 'approved' Left Wing protest (Ignore lockdowns, secede from the US, Burn down buildings, assassinate people, etc.)
And another rule if you taking part in a 'Verboten' Right Wing Protest.

Javanka have six toilets in their house but will not permit the Secret Service staff assigned to their protection to use any of them. The government has been paying a neighbour rent for a studio apartment with a toilet for the security detail to use.

This is good. The original suggestions were that this quick thinking cop should be awarded a Congressional Medal of Honour. That would not be appropriate, that's a military award. It seems some politicians are pushing for him to receive the Congressional Gold Medal, a very high ranking and rarely awarded medal.
