    At this point? The Toaster.

But I will use this to make the point: The Conservative voterbase overwhelmingly wanted Kemi.

    The Conservative MPs didn't.

Just goes to show how 'Conservative' the Conservative MPs are.

But did they? If there is anything I have noted from watching a lot of elections, both here and abroad, it is that conservative/republican/national (right wing if you like) voters never miss a chance to get their candidates into positions of power, where labour/democrat/ left wing supporters seem to be a bit more relaxed at voting time (Obviously there are exceptions to this on both sides).

So surely the conservative voterbase, if Kemi was their chosen one, would have told their reps in no uncertain terms who they should be supporting, or face the consequence at the next election? Much like this " I may even pull out my old UK address just to write to the local Conservative Minister to urge them to vote for Kemi." but did you? Maybe the rest are just as apathetic.

    Energy Sustainability in NZ

Given recent experience in the EU, the recent start to Marsden Point decommissioning, and sale of Z to Ampol in Australia, a timely topic.

Not sure I can concur on that point, I mean Boris and Trump were notable examples - one of whom failed to do anything remotely Conservative. I'd say that the left-wing types have always had the much more well-organized ground-roots support. Think Corbynism or any of the left-wing protest movements (BLM, Environmentalists etc.) - hell as much as I hate to say it - the groundswell for Jacinda in the 2020 election was palpable.

I mean, Kemi was a long shot from the beginning - no Cabinet/front bench experience and traditionally any Tory leader has usually held position such as Chancellor, Foreign secretary etc. A Lot of talk is being said that based on her performance in the Debates and how it resonated with the Conservative voterbase that she's likely to get a high profile ministerial position, possibly a role in Cabinet.

    We'll see.

The problem is that it's not the Conservative voterbase that has any say at this stage, nor even members of the Conservative party - they only get a say when it's the final 2.

Since I'm neither a UK Conservative member or an MP, my say is very limited - e.g. I received a nice auto-reply and nothing since.

Suppose the running of the race - and determination of 1st / 2nd place - is now a moot point.

I'd say Liz is slightly better than Rishi.

but to put that in context, that's like saying 'Yeah, a Broken leg is better than getting your balls chopped off'.

I'm hoping that Conservative party members though haul the MPs over the coals.

Well that was fairly unexciting. Labour supporters will probably prefer Liz Truss to win, she's seen as somewhat of a dim bulb and easier to beat in an election.
It's entirely up to the Conservative party members now though. They are hardly representative of the wider population, generally being the stereotypical stale, pale, male.

    Morning.

I did forget - in my last post - to pose the question "wonder who the Russians (and the Chinese) favoured? "

Hopefully as a bit product of the tragedy unfolding in Eastern Europe people will realise the folly of green energy. Not mentioned in the article is that global shipping companies could decide not to stop here at all. As carbon taxes increase it will get to point where it’s not economical for them to come here.
You already see this on a micro scale where airlines pull out of certain domestic routes
But just remember folks sustainability means something a whole lot different to those pushing it. It’s a code word that really means Shutdown so they can restart their brave new world. They care not if a few billion starve to death in process.
