Is Tāmaki Makaurau Maori for fuck me it's raining again?
Just back from my first proper stay in Auckland following the WRC and I think I have trench foot.
Glad to report that while cruising the back streets of Manurewa looking for a replacement toothbrush after using mine to clean my boots I witnessed both a group of helmetless MX riders popping wheelies down the main street and not five minutes later a gang on Harleys all running a red light at speed.
Oh yes, lost the rental car in the Westfield car park in Newmarket like a country bumpkin and got robbed by Wilsons of $15 for parking for 25 minutes in the CBD at 7am on Sunday morning. Cunts.
Other than that was better than I expected for a town full of wankers.
EDIT - And you can stick your traffic up your arse.
It's Friday. I see Scummy has been out and about again -

This is bloody frustrating. Here it is Friday and I've got nothing to rant about. I feel FOMO coming on.

Here’s something for you to rant about.... our man (well Canada’s. Man) just had a show in Brisbane where 10,000 people paid $150 a head to listen to him.....
And most of those people would already know what he has to say from his books and videos.
Paying that $150 is more like showing respect for someone standing up for silent majority..,,
10,000 people came to listen to a man the left would label a right wing extremist....

The 8th sign of the apocalypse is upon us here in Hicksville.
We now have the purple scooter plague, unsightly junk left everywhere. Don’t know how it works but it seems when your done with your ride or or o credit you just leave it out in street on footpath. No regard at all to women with prams or elderly in mobility carts etc.
Great example of what a green/socialist utopia would look like, when people don’t own stuff they just dump it anywhere. The footpath is the new HNZ frontyard excepts there’s no ford falcons up on blocks to shield the purple plague.
I think a lot of them are going to end up in drainage canals. That ought to be entertaining random lithium grenades going off in night....

I see a lot of people use them as toys to race around on. Some people use them as transport but they are a nuisance. A lot of the scooters get damaged and get scrapped, I read someplace that they have a life span of about 12 months before going to scrappers. Also, overseas studies found that they had high accident rates. Segment posted below
Nearly half (48%) of injured riders sustained a fracture, laceration, or abrasion to the head, with 15% of those riders showing symptoms "suggestive of a traumatic brain injury." (Only one of the interviewed riders was wearing a helmet.) About half of the injured riders were between the ages of 18-29, and about two-thirds had taken fewer than 10 scooter trips before their injury. About 60% of interviewed riders said they "received training on using the e-scooter" via a phone app.
A lot of cities around the world have had issues with cleaning up discarded scooters, access for disabled, and the issues from speeding and accidents. I believe the companies pay the council for a contract to operate in a city/town. That is to prevent too many operators in one space, so it gives councils a revenue stream. Its safer to have people walk or cycle as pedestrians and cyclists often have separate spaces, but scooters make councils extra money so "fuck ya'll" I guess?
