And then when the Court of public opinion decided overwhelmingly in favour of Joe Biden, the minorty tried (and failed) to override that. So, does democracy only count when you agree with the outcome?

Aspects of the decision are quite complicated but the main part was straight forward and unanimous. The justices decided that in cases involving federal appointments such as president, Congress holds the power, not the states. States presumably still have the power to remove from the ballot a state politician they deem to have engaged in insurrection.

The court did not find Trump innocent of insurrection. I only mention it because Trump had requested that and will probably claim they did.

I doubt for anyone here. Interestingly, the scotus did not strike down the appeals court assertion that trump did commit insurrection.

My view is I want trump on the ballot, as in my opinion the gop do not deserve to govern, especially the ones in congress. They have literally passed no laws of note since they got the gavel. Pathetic.
Trump near guarantees they lose the 2024 election. So by all means keep him on the ballot

The American electorate metaphorically held it's collective nose and voted Biden last time.

Lets hope they can do it again - otherwise the US and every organisation it now supports is fucked.

Reading the ruling it reads to me that they only that they decided it wasn't the individual states job to rule him ineligible it was congress's job instead.

Trump's layers submitted some "requests" of the judge in the E Jean Carroll case. Basically Trump wants to appeal without posting the required $100 million bond, he wants the amount awarded against him reduced, he wants the jury disqualified and a new trial ordered and on and on. The judge didn't keep him waiting, he basically said no.

Trump's sense of urgency is justified even if his efforts are misplaced. On Thursday (their time) E Jean Carroll's lawyers can come for Trump property to recover the $83.3 Million debt.

    Yes I understood.
Pretty sure He cut and pasted it directly from the conspiracy website he linked.
which is a "news" set up of a religious organisation.
You can be sure of its quality. It was his primary source for COVID misinformation that turned out to be incredibly wrong.

His go fund me seems to have stalled 1.32million

I'd forgotten how weird the US primary elections can be. In big places it probably resembles something we would recognise. In really small places there may just be a meeting at someone's house apparently. Those who want to vote for Trump walk to one side of the room, those who want to vote for Haley go to the other. This process often takes place in halls. There are reportedly instances currently of people preferring to vote for Haley being instructed to form a line, they were then abused and threatened by the Trump supporters until people were in tears.

Just as well it's not a cult.

Was listening to Michael Cohen overnight. He was explaining Trump's financial position. Cohen confirmed Trump is a billionaire but it's all in property, he doesn't have lots of cash. He has to sell or raise loans against his New York properties to pay the bonds. If he sells property he will have to pay city and state taxes on the proceeds, which means to raise half a billion he'll need to sell nearly a billion worth of property.

Cohen doesn't think Mar A Lago will be a target because that is not in New York and thus would involve another lengthy court case.

Trump does have a very serious money problem. It has been reported that Trump and Elon Musk are to meet. Trump is to meet the world's second richest man. I wonder what they will talk about?

    Trump losing the plot?

Looking more and more like the US election will be a contest between two equally senile old men.
