    Honda CBX-B

Waiting for a WoF at AA GI last weekend and this arrived. I didn't even know there was a sports touring version.

Room for Tshirt and undies and sneakers in those panniers and a dress for the lady on the other side.
-Wet weather gear? Sorry, had to leave that behind.

Yes, the owner said it was NZ new. It's done about 100,000 km.

BMW K1 set the benchmark for tiny panniers. Toothbrush on one side, gold Amex on the other. Sorted
it's not a bad thing till you throw a KLR into the mix.

Upper Hutt 1978 I was in Jim and Alan Hughsons shop ,when Jim said have you ridden the new CBX and XR500 Hondas ????
He picked up a phone and arranged the CBX for a morning ! Rimutukas here I come !!

Loved it. (that was the first model with twin rear shocks ). Beaut engine !

You'd never go hungry with Nigella Gaz.
If it weren't for flashbacks...I'd have no memory at all..

The engineer who designed those was the same guy who had earlier designed the racing 250 six. He had visited a USAF base and been 'shown around' an F4 Phantom. The orange on black instruments on the CBX reflect what he saw on the Phantom. He reportedly also had an exhaust made that sounded like a Phantiom but the people higher up the food chain didn't think that was appropriate. Pity.

it didn't work as a race bike and they didn't want to waste the costs of producing it, so find another market, what i couldn't understand was why when they built the CB900FZ with sidecovers that actually merged properly into the tank and tailpeice, and were all the same coloutm the CBX's were three separate panels, and the sidecovers were a black while the tank and tailpeice the colour of the bike, that was weird

Especially with those panniers! If ever an engine should remain naked, it was that 6.
