Pete is still racking his brain as to why it's called the Strait of Hormuz when it obviously isn't straight.

Wow, talk about not giving credit where it's due. By all accounts, operation Epic Epstein Distraction has been a total success.

Just sitting here reminiscing instead of washing the car. Way back when the Shah ruled Iran I visited twice. Just one hour at Tehran airport each time. Tehran is at altitude. The city varies between 1,200m and 2000m. If a 'plane is fully loaded it'll take less extra fuel than normal so it can get off the ground.

Iran is surrounded by mountains with deserts in the middle. A natural fortress. When the US tried to rescue the Ayatollah's US Embassy hostages some of the helicopters came down 'cause the engines were working too hard in the thin air.

Pete Kegbreath, Secretary of War Crimes, is talking "boots on the ground." I can't help wondering if he's actually looked at a topographical map?

So given President Trump’s boasting that “no other President can do some of the shit I’m doing”, Secretary Hegseth’s preference for “maximum lethality, not tepid legality”, and things might drag on messily in Iran, is it out of the question that the US might consider a limited nuclear strike to bring everything to a rapid close without having to put boots on the ground?

And what effect would that have? (Yes I’m catastrophising just a little bit…)

I've seen opinions that Iran may have functional nukes. Not small or elegant, but till capable of destruction. If the US did take such an action and Iran having nothing to loose then I am sure that what ever they have would be sent Israels way
it's not a bad thing till you throw a KLR into the mix.

Never a dull moment, now President Trump wants other countries to help keep the Strait of Hormuz open. It is physically open, just the risk vs benefit equation for the shipping companies doesn’t add up, what with 100s of millions of dollars at stake per ship. Maybe escorts will change that, but the numbers in a convoy won’t get anywhere close to pre war levels when 100 plus ships were transitting daily, just factoring in the level of organisation required.

Meanwhile we have a month’s worth of fuel reserves on hand, with another month on the way. China and Thailand have banned fuel exports altogether, South Korea is apparently considering doing the same, we get our fuel from there or Singapore. They get it from the Arabian gulf.

They’ve just cancelled the Bahrain and Saudi Arabian formula 1 races in April, hopefully that might get a few billionaires’ attention and someone he might listen to whispering in the President’s ear about packing up his military toy box and going home. The despatching of an Amphibious ready group from Japan suggests that’s unlikely.

    Aaaarghh!

The link below is performed at a leisurely pace but he explains why he thinks that week three of a Straits of Hormuz closure would be catastrophic. Over the years there has been a lot of work done on various models and all point to week three being critical.

Recently the speaker was challenged as to his credentials to comment and he gave his life history. Basically he went into the oil business from school. Subsequently he received a degree and he has owned, managed, and been a partner in oil industry companies.

He says that if the Straits of Hormuz remain closed for three weeks it will lead to a world wide recession. Black outs affecting millions in Asia. Internationally it's considered too serious to be allowed to happen. If suddenly navies around the world send ships it"s not that they suddenly decided to support Trump's idiot war. It's that they will be trying to get the tankers moving.

I guess we’re about to find out, I think this coming week is the third one since ships stopped using it? Not a lot of optimism that the strait can be defended militarily anyway from what I’ve seen, so I guess it all depends on how prepared the Iranians really are and President Trump’s willingness to call their bluff.

I’ve been watching this guy, he’s got the opposite problem of maybe talking a bit fast (the Hormuz stuff starts at 8 minutes).
