OK I'll start still local to my school on Basin Reserve in God's Capital.(God rode a Hardly so needed to be walking distance to scooter centre, althoughthat was later).

Moto Recycle was the first wrecker I'd heard of, and the biggest and best I've seen since.
Great place to pop in, you could see a display GT750, oh, and I also saw an SB2 I think. In Silver and Red.

Then behind was Moto Mechanix(?). Duncan Barribals (?) and his team of merry spanner spinners, refuge of the penniless biker.
I had a mate who worked there part time at the end. They had way too many repaired customer bikes with non returning owners and no legal way to recoup losses.
Don't you look at my accountant.
He's the only one I've got.

in the early 80s id do courses down here and go into town each lunchtime and buy some tyres from wellington mc centre, take them on the bike to the post office workshops and they would ship them up to my wanganui post office workshops and i'd sell what i didn't use as they were a heap cheaper than wanganui..... i would have shopped around and got the best deal too

Hey it was over 40 years ago, not sure it even had it's fairing fitted. Do remember strange hole in seat (quick google to see I'm not crazy) oh yeah.
Thought it was a 750 but again, 40+.

Some of the ones I recall, not counting shops that are still in business. In Upper Hutt: Dual Wheels (Phil Mudgeway); Big M (Mike Thomas & Merv Fergusson); one in Queen St (Peter Daniels?); Kevin Bock MC (Kevin Bock); Tolley & Spence had a shop in Main St but it was mainly bicycles; Lower Hutt: Bike Spot in Pretoria St; Frank Boyle in High St then Kings Cres; Honda City (Mike Harris) in High St; one in Rutherford St which I think became Wgtn MC; one in Jackson St Petone (bought a pair of Ashmans Red Devils MX boots there which are still out in the shed). Wellington as mentioned, Lawton & Boyle, Tolley & Spence near parliament, Whites and Sawyers, Wgtn MC. Probably more.,
it's not a bad thing till you throw a KLR into the mix.
those cheap ass bitches can do anything with ductape.

Yeah Wellington Motorcycle centre had a shop in Lower Hutt roughly opposite to where Cyclespot are now.
You dont mention Bike Clinic which had a shop in Tory Street before they went to Taranaki street, which turned into Bristish Motorcycle Spares or similar (Dallas Rankine).Later there was Motorad in Vivian Street . Have bought bikes from Honda City(Cl175,CB500/4,Whites(SR500,XS750) Sawyers(2x CB900)
Bike Clinic(Ducati 900S2,K100RS). Also bought a Kawasaki Z1000J from Norjo in CHCH between the CB900 and the Ducati
