    Carrying on with Pancake's question...

I will usually just ride on normally, but then hold my speed down a bit on the next straight.
I figure an experienced rider can pass me almost anywhere using the other lane, or same lane come the next straight.
and I wouldn't want to encourage an inexperienced rider to pass on, or near a corner.

But I agree that a signal of some sort would help.

So Pumba's suggested a quick flick of the right indicator, this sound okay to people?
There's kind of issues either way. A flick of the right could make you think they're about to pull across for some reason, or possible u-turn? Unlikely in most situations, but would make me hold off a sec until I knew what they were doing.
A flick of the left would make you wonder if their bike is okay, and may slow to help out.

Hmmm... what other body parts are available?
(nothing rude here, it's too cold for that!)

Maybe frantic waving of both legs or flapping of elbows...?

Sounds like the waving and flailing of body parts would do the trick. Might even scare the person passing.

A left flick of the indicator sounds like common sense to me

I would simply kick out with my right foot and simultaneously rub the top of my helmet in a circular fashion with my left hand and stand up with my left leg on the pegs. This will tell him to pass ....

Yeah I did mean WOT = wide open throttle, But work over time conveys roughly the same idea so I didn't correct it.

Thinking about it for a while I think the thing I normally do (if I can't/don't want to take my right hand off the throttle to wave someone by) is indicate left, stay left and keep on the gas, any IL250 and everything bigger will take me easy on those straights!
Part of what riding is about shows when people give each other the courtesy of not tailing too closing or passing when their not sure what the other rider is doing at the expense of their own ride.

Oooh, itching to get out, was too wet for fun today and ran out of gas on Saturday, managed to roll to a servo nice! Mmmm, was that the 2nd day I was on empty or 3rd?
I'm selling my new riding gear!! Only worn a few times get a deal Kiwibikers!!

Haha, the last guy was patient with me, i held him up by 30 mins. I prolly failed to notice a couple 100kph signposts or something and trotted along at 80.

oooohhh...so YOU're the One!!! I don't feel so bad anymore...

Sorry, just kidding! I never heard a thing

For me, it's more the lack of experience in the dark that kind of gets me...but eh, practice makes perfect they say...I love to get out of my comfort zone...

    thanks for sharing too
