    Bike insurance?

Not sure if this is the correct forum or not.
What competitive bike insurance companies are there now that I should check out?

I'm on Vero and it works out for me something like $32 a month for full coverage. In comparison, AA bike insurance for me was going to cost something like $900 a year

I went through KiwiBike, bloddy good deal is all I can say. They got me 2 quotes:
Option 1: 383 premimum, 1250 excess (I am under 25 and only got my Learners)
Option 2: 500 premimum, 1000 excess (again due to age and license)

I went with option 1, as they both work out nearlly the same, but with option 1 I dont have to fork out extra money for good years :P (touch wood)

They put me through SWANN, I just wanted to see how much I would get charged if I didnt go through the brokers, so I filled in the online form, and I got back 500+ for the same insurance through SWANN, so obviously I went through kiwibike .

Hope this helps. Just get some quotes and see what they can do for you to either match or beat the competitive quotes .

    EDIT: Its full cover too

I went through Kiwibike and got Swann insurance. They were the cheapest for comprehensive cover and they have a roadside assistance number you can ring for breakdowns or flat tyres, etc. (although I don't how good it will be).

Others like e-Bike and AMI were much more expensive for me.

Swann was $300 per year for a $5k bike and I'm in the over 30 age group.

This thread topic is a perennial. Please use the most excellent site search engine: "insurance" should throw up everything you need to know, including the most excellent Dave at www.kiwibike.co.nz

I'm 42yo - old fart but sharp reactions.
The 640 is great fun. Especially on gravel roads. Got a Akra Muffler on it. Would like a quieter one tho.

Thanks for the replies, I didn't know about Kiwibike.

It's so much fun the 950 gets left in the shed...

Yeah a friend of mine has a 990 and you can see where he comes out of corners. My bike just sprays the loose stuff on top. His bike leaves one long snaking trench in the hardpack. Bloody amusing to see.

Yeah, I bought my 950 for long distance work.
The 640 is the business on gravel (or it was until I rode the Super Enduro).
