We must all be perfect then.

Donor, sorry to dispel the illusion, but there's no such thing as "Safe" motorcycling. You can plod around doing everything right and still get smeared all over the road by practically any road user, roadside inhabitant, frozen UFO sewerage outflow, or just plain good old lightning delivered by the hand of God.

Random and unforeseen events have accounted for more of my friends than stupidity. In fact stupidity is usually rewarded.

Risk management is cool, but one person's acceptable risk is another's death by somnabulant boredom.

Like the Cops, you guys see so much bad stuff that it's easy to leap to the conclusion that people doing stuff that you wouldn't means they're a victim/criminal in all but name.
If a man is alone in the woods and there isn't a woke Hollywood around to call him racist, is he still white?

I used to ride like a nana, 'everyone is out to kill me' mentallity. Didnt pass unless absolutely safe. I woke up in hospital 3 weeks after my accident. Apparently I dropped the bike avoiding collision with a ute on a straight peice of road on a sunny morning. It seems unfair to me that meatheads that put themselves in danger get away with it while I obey the rules and play extra safe and I end up in the mess im in now.

I usually ride very carefully, but I crashed last night because I thought I'd whack the throttle open in the wet for no good reason.

Admittedly, road conditions around Auckland were pretty grim and greasy.

I guess we just do all we can out there, and trust in the mercy of Eris for the rest. Either way, life's too short not to ride motorcycles.

However, while I'm a reasonably aggressive filterer, I have little respect for anyone who rides foolishly around other vehicles.
kiwibiker is full of love, an disrespect.
