You have absolutely no understanding whatsoever of animal production systems, animal heath, the spread of disease, commercial slaughter and meat production systems, microbiology, epidemiology or science generally.

Leptospirosis is transfered from animals to people via urine from infected animals, not through animal products consumed by people -- at least not in the developed world. Mastitis is an infection of the mammary gland. It is not transmissible via milk and, even if any did get into the milk production system it would either be rejected as a consequence of somatic cell testing or it would be killed by pasteurisation.

No farmed animals in New Zealand stand in shit in the manner you describe.

And as for the "whole veal thing", I don't even want to ask.

Please stop posting mischievous fiction. It's really annoying.

you took every thing i said wrongly lol...

i did not say lepto was transferred by meat... i said loads of farmers can get it when the cows pee and shit and swat their tails all over the farmers when they milk the cows and transport them etc..

and i didnt say that mastitis was transferrable to humans, i said think of the poor fudging cows who have to deal with it because of mass milk production.

and it is not fiction, i have seen it myself... the standards for pigs ESPECIALLY , in new zealand are horrific!! and chickens aren't much better... both of which are MUCH worse than in say some parts of Europe. In Nz, chickens are forced to live out their lives in cages that aren't even the size of an A4 piece of paper (all dimentionsare about 3/4 of the length of an A4 page)

for your info Hitch, I've been reading up on this for years, been going to see farms and intensive production units AND I've studied the standards for all these animals in Uni...

Ok, all kidding aside...I respect anyone's beliefs, as long as they don't try to convince me that theirs are better than me...I have been known to pass for the Antichrist to jeovah witnesses knocking on my door at 7am on a Sunday (VERY bad idea!!!)

But the thing is with being a vegeterian is that a lot of people use it as a misguided diet, or an excuse to get attention...

just like everything good in principle, most dumbasses out there will twist and turn it into something that is worth less than contempt.

If someone honnestly does not enjoy eating meat, then that's fine, bit two things are to be made sure of:

1- leave every other carnivores alone in their feast, or they'll bloody eat you!

2- make sure you do in an educated fashion so as to hust your health and look like some malnourished Biafran child.

There are serious risks in being an uneducated vegan.

I don't think that you want to start comparing qualifications, credentials and experience on this matter. How about we just agree that you stop posting things that you've just made up, and stick to the facts, OK? Lol.

Fuck this is so ridiculous is actually funny...

I suddenly know what people mean when they say this ==>

AJ, I for one, believe it or not respect your stance as a vegetarian... however I am pro choice, everyone can make their own decisions... with comments like your murder comment you remove all substance in your argument, as it becomes a tad childish. Hitcher is a highly intelligent man, you will need to try another tactic with him.

eeerr...sorry AJ, but I'd tend to agree with Joni here...

Mr Hitcher has got a lot of knowledge, and even though I haven't met him, I've been able to appreciate his point more than a few times.

It's not about being pro vegetarian, it's about facts here...

Accuse? Pointing out factual and contextual issues in what you wrote isn't "accusing". What you posted may be your opinion, but if that is patently and demonstrably untrue, then the validity of your opinion on these matters is, at best, invalid. You have produced nothing by way of evidence that would lead me to any view other than you made up most of what you posted for no reason other than dramatic effect.

And I don't think you want to compare qualifications, credentials and experience in the propaganda business either.

If you're not up to an evidence-based discussion, accusing me of condoning "murder" is a weak attempt at diversion from your prejudices, don't you think? What's next, Godwin's Law?

thanks Joni... appreciate your acceptance of me being vegetarian... and i do accept the fact that hitcher is wise...

though i do believe that killing anything is murder.. and i havnt shoved it down anyone's throat... i hope you do see that...

and i didnt say that people couldnt eat meat, fair enough... but i couldnt live with myself if i ate it.

    just explaining the murder comment.

Right. And the most important fact to remember is humans do not require meat to live - never have done, never will do.

Despite decades of propaganda from the meat industries attempting
to brainwash the population to their view (the "science" can be bought - ask any large American Corporation) - and with some degree of success judging by some of the posts here, millions of vegetarians happily walk this planet daily proving the fact mentioned above.
