well WOW what a totally Awesome ride .. thanks to those of you brave enough to turn out . was totally excellent to see some new faces .. hopefully you will not be strangers in future ..

Morning started off in Shannon .. yes as noted above the choccy cake was iced pic evidence below then off to Shannon garage to wait for the Sels1 & Rustys with Duc girl as pillion to arrive from Kapiti .. & Yod, Mrs Yod, 86GSXR, & Meanie turned up to escort us to Ashhurst, great ride the roads were drying out & man I am getting quite comfy with this cornering business

An excellent turn out at Ashhurst & decision made to split into two groups the riders who wanted to tackle the saddle & those quite happy to go directly through the gorge .. Riders Brief juz to keep everyone in the loop.. quick text to English as he had not arrived yet .. but off we set.. arrived into woodville garage In time to take a couple of pics of the saddle riders arriving .. & low & behold English arrived

Next leg of the trip to Pahiatua & I was designated tail end charlie .. had a bit of speed over the railway lines so stood up .. hmmm seat felt a bit weird .. look down ohh Betsy is doing her best to strip again this time she is trying to lose the seat .. so quick stop on the side of the road to set that right & off we set .. thanks to Robertydog who realised I had stopped & waited for me

Gas up & then it was on to my favourite bit of road sighs .. I was really really really looking forward to this bit of road had only ridden it once before not long after i first started riding so was keen to see how much more smoother I was on it ..think the smile said it all today .. a few cattle to dodge & one sheep still a bit of loose chip seal but ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh that is one sweet bit of road all right..

I was fortunate enough to have Yod's GPS unit on Betsy again today .. (thanks so much Jonno I really appreciated it ) hmm & we will not mention Betsy's top speed today needless to say I was laffing BIG TIME....

off to carterton & Wild Oats Cafe .. well wot can one say about a bike freindly cafe they put us upstairs & provided visor cleaners, morsels of sweets at the end of lunch & a lollipop on the bike .. I would certainly recommend any biker stopping here awesome treatment .. the plus we were all still dry at this point .. no rain

then it was off to Featherston, stop for gas .. & Cowboyz not happy that he couldn't lead anyone astray (get them lost) left his smokes at the cafe so shot back to locate them .. Yod needed to do some quick repairs to the RF .. gear change leaver I believe .. & still no cowboyz .. so leaving meanie with mrs cowboyz the rest of us decided to proceed to the summit of the taka hill .. this was my first trip over (along with one or two others) & I may have finally found ryhthm had a really nice flow going around the corners so much so that was grining ear to ear when we got the the summit

more piccy time & as it was getting cold meanie said to proceed they will catch up as cowboyz still not back yet ..

off we went & had a bit of fun with phantom I passed him, he then shot back passed me but I nailed him on a nice sweepy corner .. that was totally fun .. we started hitting a bit of drizzle & headed towards the Haywards .. rustys & duc girl headed into the hut .. unfortunately english followed them but spied us at the last min .. so we waited til he got turned around & came back .. then over the paikakariki hill & a quick stop at the summit, could feel the rain coming & headed to pram for final gas up .. said bye bye to sels1 & rode in quite heavy rain to shannon ..

not realising we had dropped off bonez & meanie bout Otaki & seen them sail past us at the turn off to shannon just prior to levin so decided to head to shannon .. meanie knew where the choccy cake was at .

had a good pace in the driving rain, just outta levin all of a sudden Betsy lost power surging & nuffing there .. though fark me she has petrol ..all of sudden she gained power again but was really shady to shannon .. anyhow we made it home & time for me to feed the tribe, the fire was still going so some quick glove drying time & devouring of the choccy cake was underway ..

Bonez & meanie turned up .. concours had a punture (fark me the bike tells him its losing tire pressure) but all sorted

so now I am still amped about the day ..

wot more could you want (apart from no rain) .. but great company, great ride & great roads .. thanks guys I totally had a blast with you all & we will do it again for sure ..

will post pics later taking far to long to upload at present .. grrrrrrr

    Re: Great day out!!!!!!!

Hi Folks, Just like to thank Chancyy for a well organised ride today and also for booking the good weather for us all. It was great to meet other KB members and to finally have the chance to put faces to their KB names. Thoroughly enjoyed those back country roads down to Masterton and the lunch stop at Carterton Wild Oats Cafe was most enjoyable. We departed at the Haywards turn off and went to friends for coffee in Lower Hutt for which we stayed there till 5pm and ended riding home to Waikanae in torrential rain and walked thru the front door at 6 soaking wet but with a great attitude after having a very enjoyable day.
    (1) suggestion for organising rides regarding fuel stops,( everyone fuel up at the same time at designated fueling points.) By doing this it will make the ride flow a bit more smoothly. I congratulate u on having riders at each intersection directing bikes to go the correct way which saved time and anyone taking the wrong turn. Overall Great day had and I look forward to further events as long as I can get a pillion seat with someone who is willing to take a pillion. I am quiet happy to share fuel cost.

Hopefully next time I get to taste Chancyy's famous Chocolate cake.
    (Sue). Duke girl.

No problem. Place that compressor under the pillion seat and you could get a few extra quid as a botty massager.

Great ride (about 20+ bikes at Woodville the biggest Manawatu KB run yet I think). Great company. Great chocky cake.

Being the least powered bike on the run Gerble managed quite well I thought. Was even given the chance of leading for bit. I'm glad the cows and sheep decided to behave. There's still a fare bit of pee gravel between Alfredton and Masterton, where Alister set a cracking pace. Lunch at the Wild Oats was entertaining. Mouse secret is out. Literally had our heads in the clouds at the Takas summit, with EN-6s being bike de reg're. Certainly enjoyed the squirt over the Haywards.

Oh yes and I got wet too. Faaarken worth it though.

Looking fwd to the next sojourn.

Ok now that I'm warm and DRY!
I had a blast thanks for the ride team, nice to see the different skill levels of everyone and yet felt comfortable to do what I wanted.... when I wanted.
This run is a real nice one for all types of different bikes and CC's, some nice long open pieces of road to blow the cob webs out and real nice flowing turning roads. People waiting for us at intersections so we know where to go makes this a real easy and relaxed run as you can afford to enjoy the day and not worry about getting left behind and push yourself to hard thereby increasing you chance of making a mistake which on a bike can be

Loved the cows and sheep didn't love the little cat I almost split in half (I'm a cat person ) Really loved playin with that black SS V8 down the hutt road only for a few seconds er...

Catch everyone later, nice to meet you all... not that I will remember everyone’s name/s.

And the CAKE was worth the ride in the rain!! thanks Chancyy I don't think I've ever seen a cake that big before

This was my first KB ride and it wont be my last.... if your uncertain about coming on one of these I highly recommend 5 Stairs

thanks Mumbles so glad you set the reminder & came .. & thanks for the compliments the ride went real well considering its the first ride I have organised .. great range of skill levels & I hope everyone was catered for .. big thanks to Ali, & Bonez who did a fair bit of tail end charlie, also to everyone who lead portions of the ride .. again Bonez, 86, Sels & esp to the second riders who pealed off & directed everyone although I think we missed one or two corners on the whole everyone got where they were going (thats cause no one followed cowboyz)
