Damn dial up, still waiting for pics to load - must get broadband!
Another great ride, really enjoyed it, even tho it was wet, cowshitty, and gravelly all at the same time it seemed round behind Alfredton.
The day started off really well, what with running slightly late due to having to find all my thermals that I had hanging up in various places round the house. They were dry at least
Thanks Meanie, Yod and Mrs Yod for waiting while I scoffed a pie and OJ at the BP
Great to catch up with some familiar and new faces at Shannon servo, then into Ashhurst for the rendevous.
A quick trip over the Saddle, again wet, and gravelly but fun. Then down to Paihatuha and onto that magic piece of road to Alfredton. Bonez in the lead, doing what Bonez does extremely well
I got to go in front to Masterton, great fun even taking into account that damn gravel!
Wild Oats just has to be one of the best cafes around. Plenty of parking, plenty of space, great menu, and who can beat those lollipops?
Through to Featherston for gas, then the classic sight of Cowboyz executing a reversal manouevre - good man
Discovered my rear tyre has maybe a few 100 kms left in it at the most. After only 5 K. Hmmm, may need a harder tyre next change.
Onto the Taka's. Legendary piece of road and Sels made short work of it. What a great stretch and never disappoints.
Down the other side and the Tiger got a real spankingI don't think the guy in the BMW SUV appreciated being overtaken tho Sels as he just had to make sure that no-one else could get past until the bottom.
Onto the Haywards and Piecoc hill, and again the Tiger was really growlingI could see your tyre tracks in the wet and the Tiger lived up to it's name - nice
Apologies at this point to the two guys I passed on the way down the hill. It looked good and I only noticed the groove in the road and the rocks as I passed over them, and of course, as I slowed there just had to be a car coming didn't there!
Paraparaumu, nice stop, and then the rain hit.
Good but wet run back to Shannon where the amazing CAKE was revealedThanks Chanceyy, you're the best!
