    Hugs for all!

Well, I know that I've become somewhat of an unwittingly cause celebre around KB for hugging people. It's not something I intended but not something I shy away from either. Now, some people may think I'm a bit of a nut-job or prevert or some such thing and admittedly perhaps I am but there has never been any malice or untoward intent in any of the genuine affection I've shown people. KB is a special place with many wonderful and special people in it.

The real world sadly isn't always that way.

So today at work I decided to change that (in my own small way.) I'm currently seconded to Archives NZ in charge of the maintenance contract and it is a staid place to work at the best of times - you'll have to remember that this is a government department and archivists are really glorified librarians. No offense intended to librarians but the majority are very conservative!

I have been hugging people. I started by hugging the PA to the CEO. I've worked my way around the office from the security guards to the CEO herself. There are a lot of interesting people in this world who react in various ways to physical contact. I am happy to report that I have not had any negative responses to my activities today. As a side note good cheer and smiles have been promoted around the office and people seem to be generally very happy!

Go forth and hug someone. Show affection for humanity.
They shall not grow old as we that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the evening,
    we will remember them

The full term is, in fact, 'deviated prevert'. You need to watch Gen. Jack D. Ripper in action to appreciate the phrase in context.

As a matter of fact, I'm starting to worry that Colapop might be a communist, conspiring to sap and impurify our precious bodily fluids...

    Hugs

Yeah it's interesting to see how some people are unfamiliar or don't hug/show physical affection.

You hug some folks and it's like they're a tree/cardboard cut out. I think they don't get enough in their childhood and just don't know what to do!

Shaking hands is another one, I shook plenty of business folks hands when I worked in London, boy could some people crush hands, wet cold straight hand shakes, warm friendly shakes. The cold stiff ones were the creepy shakes, really made you think about the type of character the are.

Personally for me hugs are great, I'm a big fan of personal affection. My Dads one of the stiff board types, I guess his old man wasn't big on public shows of affection, all -be a man, only girls cry, and very single minded that education was a waste of time and that certain things were womans work. My Poppa on the other hand was the polar opposite, very huggy, did knitting and any chores round the house. Just different blokes with different ways they were raised I guess. Interesting the end result though.

Funny how a lot of folks with low EQ (Emotional intelligence) end up in jobs where a lot of it would be a good thing. I.e. being a doctor etc. You need to be able to read people to be a really good one.

Oh and big hugs ColaP Diddy
Lusting after 2 wheels over 4 anyday
