It was not a bad article .... I don't think it put her across in a very intellegent light though.

Yeah, I thought the same which was a shame, coz she's obviously very talanted on the bike!!!

Sure is a hell of a lucky girl to come out of it so "lightly" & good riding by the other fella for not running her over!!!

The same goes for alot or our top MX riders when they get up on the podium. Notable exceptions are BT, JC, the Kings and some others I'm sure, but at the International MX it was quite noticable how much better the over seas riders were on the podium with clear intelligent speaking than the majority of Kiwi's. And most of them were Aussies! How hard can it be to appear more intelligent than an Australian?

I though she came across really well. I also didn’t think she was big headed. As she said compared to the guys shes not that good she just loves riding. You wouldn’t catch me anywhere near jumps like that. As for “same trick over and over again” get over yourself.
Why is it that kiwis hate to see other kiwis doing well??? Im a kiwi by the way
If she can make money from what she loves why wouldn’t she?
If you think she looked a bit unintelligent have a look the next time they interview a New Zealand snowboarder / skateboarder / b.m.xer / surfer.
I think shes a great ambassador for New Zealand.

Remember too Mary has the bike skills to kill on the track.

I dont think she seemed big headed. She admitted she wasnt up there with the boys and have many of you met the male FMXrs?

They like to wreck shit in hotels, fuck over hire scooters and rental cars and leave a path of destruction every town they come to.

Well thats how it used to be but to be honest the riders do act a whole lot more professionally now.

The sport has come a long way in a short number of years. For many of us who do jump we find that we havnt had time for the media skills to get better as the thrill of jumping in front of a crowd shadows the rest of it.After a show comes the fame and riders are thrown out there to mingle with the fans. The riders are only human but the fans think they are superhuman.
Its not like in America where you are brought up watching supercross knowing that if you make it one day onto the podium you have to have the talking skills too.

I liked one of Mary's comments from somewhere that she was the top female FMXer in the world and the guys were doing stuff inverted she wouldn't attempt upright.

It's the Crusty Demon effect. Too many think that tattoos, piercings and giving the impression of learning to walk upright the previous day will get them on to the start grid next to BT, JC, the Kings etc.
