I can't even find my wife beater singlet, so DB is out for me!

What's going to be available is DB ($20/doz) and Barrel51 Bourbon & Cola or Barrel71 Rum & Cola (never heard of either) and the usual lemonade/coke/fresh up/water. That's fine but I don't drink DB and I'm not gay or 11 years old so RTD's are out of the question too. To be honest I'm leaning towards not going.
the bourbon 51 was ther last year and awasnt that bad, cheap knock off of wild turky

DB is roughly $12-14 a doz in supermarkets I reckon, this is ridiculous, and being the only supply.
bet it will all run out on Friday too.

I'm of 2 minds about this whole sordid affair.

On one hand I want to go because I'd hate to see the event disappear from lack of attendance just because of petty, friendless, fun wrecking bureaucrats.

On the other hand, I'm not going to let those same bureaucrats treat me like an irresponsible child, and would be happy to thumb my nose at the liquor license gobshite. But then there's the risk someone equally petty will get anal and seize my drink at the gate or even as I'm drinking it!

There will be much deliberation required, but I think ultimately I'll go.

I was also re-thinking but I sent my entry form off this morning, I mean, I had already filled it in etc.

it really is a shame about the beer, they wont be checking everyones bags but then again, if you turn up when its not busy you might be unlucky.

    of course
    there are a couple idea's

1.) go to the grounds a couple days before and bury your stash somewhere.
2.) sit on the road and drink all your piss before you go in.
3.) bury (or hide) your stash somewhere on the way in (the road is long), there I'snt too much bush so bring a digging tool. then when you want some go for a walk.

With all due respect gentlemen, I think you are being a little prissy about the alcoholic catering. and possibly you are losing site of the whole reason people go to bike rallies for.
It's about Bikes, Friends(old and new), and a non cage atmosphere.
So what if your favourite beer isn't on site, I'm sure you can get equally pissed on DB if thats your intention, if your just after a few through the day and a few at night.......well, HTFU.
Or maybe go to an Austin Car Owners convention and grizzle about the corkage on the Pinot 93.
Focus on the important shit fellas.

It's not the 'favorite beer' that isn't available thats of concern, It's the matter of one and only one type of New Zealand's worst brew's and its sold at almost double its retail value.

I do appreciate the event is about bikes but I also believe it has a fairly well known reputation of a weekend to get pissed. its like going to a wine and cheese festival where they have all the cheese but only Hardy's Cask wine,

I agree it's about enjoying yourself. Being restricted to crap like fucking DB doesn't make for much enjoyment. Like I said before, I'm not all about getting shitfaced - that doesn't interest me in the least - never has. But I do have a problem with not being able to enjoy the drink I want to enjoy, catching up with mates and if I can't do that there, I'll just do it at home.

Give the bureaucrats an inch, they take a mile. It's the principle of the matter and for me the important shit is not being subjected to other peoples petty bullshit.

Yes, I like a good beer, Heiniken, Macs sassy red, Stellas, and prepared as usual to take some nice ones, and a nip or two of something hotter.
It adds to the enjoyment and the lifestyle I choose.
Gone are the days of crap beer, and dear I say it, non-choice.

So what happens next year when the authorities realise that the licence conditions were being ignored, and decide not to issue one at all?

perhaps someone can clarify why a couple thousand bikers are not allowed to bring their own consumables onto private land and consume?

I understand the need to a license if your selling

And that's exactly why. There's nothing to stop people gathering and drinking their own booze on private land, but when there's selling going on...

Personally, I'd rather pay a bit more at the door and have it entirely BYO.
