You have a short memory - it wasn't "an earful" you were ranting about before - you were wanting to give him a pounding, and suggested that you'd be in the cells now if it wasn't for your wife.

You must have calmed down now - you seem almost reasonable, if a bit forgetful...

I can't see it happening, but fingers crossed.

I can understand being pissed about it. I would be too.
Quite astounding, isn't it? What a bunch of namby-pamby, hoity-toity, stick-it-up-your-jumper nancy boys (and girls - at least one). It's almost as if they actually believe that my being annoyed was somehow worse than someone potentially killing my wife and I. How low this country has sunk in it's drive to be tolerant of idiots.

The fact is I'm not a violent person and while it'd have been unlikely that I'd have actually smacked him, I wouldn't completely rule the possibility out. Depends how smug he was once I got to the door, I guess.

He's got no right to threaten my life like that, despite what you might think. I make no apology for not suffering fools - at the risk of repeating myself, fools that shouldn't be on the fucking road in the first place. And a beating would have been far less serious, injury wise, than I'd have suffered if he'd hit me from behind when a different fuckwit changed lanes and forced me to brake. Almost ironically his punishment would have been less severe. What a fucked up world.

I should have said... "But if MY WIFE had got off the bike, I WOULD HAVE AT A BARE MINIMUM given the gook shithead an earful."

We could go around in circles here, but I still maintain that road-rage violence is not the way to "educate" other road users.

People make silly mistakes on the road all the time. We all do it, and yes, some are worse than others.

The problem arises when someone thinks "that person did something to endanger me or my family", and reacts with extreme violence.

You may think that is the correct way to behave, I respectfully disagree.

While it obviously irritated you, the hypothetical question about you or your own being victims of road rage is perfectly valid - and I think it should be answered. You can't have it both ways.

I'm open to better ideas. Nothing else seems to be working though.

I'd hazard (no pun intended) a guess these two today were habitual offenders,

You're right. Instead of telling the cops she nearly knocked me off, I should have said she was doing 53km/h in a 50km/h zone... they'd have been right there!

I certainly don't think driving on the wrong side of the road is the way to act either. Another point of difference we have.

Irritated is such a strong word. I prefer to think of it more along the line of displeased. As in "I was extremely displeased to be feed feet first into this log chipper, but such is life. I musn't grumble!".

    I've already answered it, BTW.

I'd make a particular effort if s/he'd had to come to a complete stop in order to avoid me. But I guess that's the difference between a responsible road user and these twits.
It'd be nice to think she'd take something away from the experience - perhaps, dare I say it... a less nonchalant attitude to road safety and in particular motorcyclists who I'm sure you're aware are highly vulnerable in a crash. The more this indifferent behaviour is tolerated, the more common it will become. And so on it goes...

I am curious to know why you'd like to hold me to a 'higher' standard than the twits. An answer to this would also be nice, if you could find the time.

Pity you didn't get the 'gooks' plate as well & do the same to him, works well when it is a company car they have been spotted in
All of the above expect the racism TBH.

If it gets so close like that they probably live round those parts and do it all the time, best thing to do is what you did (get the the plate & call it in.......minus the rage..........but totally understandable). I've been taken out recently, badly (two months ago I spent two weeks in hospital & now have metal pins & a plate for life) so I can totally understand how pissed off one can get at the ignorance of some drivers, but in saying that........................

    were human..............all of us.

We make mistakes, hence why I never felt any rage against the young girl who pulled out in front of me, a little annoyed a few moments in hospital but not rage. I've made silly mistakes before & would hope I would be forwarded a little grace sometimes. But in saying that when someone cuts a corner like that they really DO need to be made aware of their actions & I don't condone for a moment a beating (as much as some deserve it)..........*555 it, that's what its there for & if the little toe rag gives you the bird later on (like someone mentioned previously) then by all means kick his wing mirror OFF! Totally justified I say

    And then *555 it
To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and to endure the betrayal of false friends. To appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; to know that even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded

The following was the same corner cutting scenario......

Mazda lady was in the wrong I reakon, because I knew of someone (riding a motorcycle-not a car )that got a $150.00 fine and big telling off for only slightly cutting the corner, but was not entirely on the opposite side of the road like your Mazda lady was.

    Good riding reflexes AT
