Also available in black! And starkers too! And very capable machines they are, Sir. But then I'm biased.

The naked version would suit me better. My knees hit the fairing unless I shift back slightly.

rode one... its big and grunty... only problem for me was that the screen was too far away to duck behind for the higher speed stuff. So went for a Bird in the end.

Hi there, Having recently sat on a CB1300S and a Blackbird, I found the bird to be more aggressive in the riding position, i.e. more lean forward, weight on wrists. How do you find it ? Nice bike the Blackbird, and very quick!

I'm currently looking at the CB1300S ( I prefer a bikini fairing to none at all) or .... as an alternative, a new Bandit 1250S. I need a sit up style of bike, and want a big bike for some two up riding and that is comfortable for all day riding, and it needs to be a bike to "do it all" on.

Anyone who has any helpful views on either of these bikes, I would be grateful to opinions.

    Cheers,
    Grant.

Wasn't Suzuki doing a "special" deal on their GSX1400 by adding a half fairing and other bling at a competitive price? Might be an alternative idea?

yes more aggressive, but the weight on wrists goes away onces you hav some wind on your chest. The main thing with the bird is how smooth it is. And the 24L tank can take you as far as around 380km if you are nice to the throtto. You find that you can sit up and ride the bird just fine. There is a few owners on MSN group that found some rust problem with the headers on the 1300. Also the handling of the Bird is much better than then 1300. Plus also Givi hard luggage is not available for the 1300. Bird also has better headlights.

Could you not also get the raised clipon things if weight on the wrists was an issue?

Yep, lots of kit around for cheap for the bird. Seeing its an older model overseas now. But it is a very well designed bike...

Yes 1300 would work much better for taller folks. My issue was not being able to tuck my head behind the screen, there is till like good 6~8inch gap with me head down tucked in. As that will be the wind protection I need for longer trips or when it is strong head wind on the motorway. I am 180cm. And the bird fits me nicely. I have longish legs. If you have any longer legs you'll find it hard to tuck them behind the fairing. Each to their own, I have a 900 Hornet when I need wind in my hair. Wonder why they call the Hornet "Hairnet" :P

Oh the 1300 does have one nice advantage... the 15L (from memory) of underseat storage space... where as the bird has stuff all.
